Only benzoyl peroxide overlaps between Cabtreo and Twyneo, at about 3.1% in Cabtreo and 3% in Twyneo. The other active ingredients differ, so the two prescriptions are not interchangeable. A fixed-dose topical combines several actives in one tube. Cabtreo is a gel with three actives for acne vulgaris, while Twyneo is a cream with two actives for acne vulgaris.

What is in each formula?
According to FDA-approved labeling via DailyMed, Cabtreo contains clindamycin phosphate 1.2%, adapalene 0.15%, and benzoyl peroxide 3.1% current DailyMed entry. That makes it a triple combination with an antibiotic, a retinoid, and benzoyl peroxide. Each gram delivers all three actives together.
According to the FDA-approved labeling PDF from 2021, Twyneo contains tretinoin 0.1% and benzoyl peroxide 3% FDA-approved Twyneo label. Tretinoin is described as a retinoid. Twyneo contains no antibiotic.
Why does shared benzoyl peroxide matter?
Benzoyl peroxide is the one duplicated antibacterial and oxidizing agent. FDA labels for Cabtreo and Twyneo list it at 3.1% and 3%, respectively. Using both products would duplicate that ingredient.
That duplication does not add a separate benefit category. It means two prescriptions would deliver nearly the same benzoyl peroxide strength twice. Readers comparing labels should count benzoyl peroxide once across the routine.
How do the retinoids differ?
Cabtreo uses adapalene 0.15%, a synthetic retinoid. Twyneo uses tretinoin 0.1%. Both regimens pair a retinoid with benzoyl peroxide, but they are not retinoid-identical.
That distinction matters when a prescriber selects a retinoid. Adapalene and tretinoin are different molecules at different strengths. A history of response or irritation with one does not predict the same result with the other.
Who is eligible and what caution applies?
Cabtreo is indicated for acne vulgaris in adults and children 12 years and older. Twyneo is indicated for acne vulgaris from 9 years and older. The lower age cutoff differs by three years.
Cabtreo also carries antibiotic-associated warnings, including colitis and diarrhea warnings. Both products can cause irritation. Do not layer them to get stronger treatment without prescriber direction.
