Your Questions About Can You Put Jergens On Your Face

Lisa asks…

Can you put jergens glow on your face, or will it streak?

Tom William answers:

They make one for the face but you CAN use the body one for your face. The trick to keep it from streaking is to apply a thin layer to a perfectly dry face and let it dry without touching it. You have to be stil until it dries bcz any perspiration can cause it to streak.

Sharon asks…

can you put jergens body moisturizer on your face?

http://www.jergens.com/Our_Collection/Product_Detail.asp?ProductID=26

http://www.jergens.com/Our_Collection/Product_Detail.asp?ProductID=8

can i just use one of those for both face and body? or do i HAVE to get the seperate ones? and why?
thanks!

Tom William answers:

Yeah. The body one is fine for the face. It’s the same thing. No need to buy 2 different kinds.

James asks…

can you put tanning lotion on your face?

so i was wondering if you could put tanning lotion on your face. I have jergens and i was wondering cause i dont want to be tan and have a super pale face:/

Tom William answers:

I would not suggest putting that lotion on your face as it is not a “tanning lotion” per say – - as it is a moisturizer with some fake tanner stuff in it. But that will clog your pores. I do believe that they have face cream. However, if you go tanning and use a tanning lotion – then yes you can put it on your face, but make sure you don’t put it over make up as that will also clog your pores.

Ken asks…

John asks…

What’s the best self-tanning lotion?

I’m not looking for one that’s very expensive- so those about to suggest Clarins or Elizabeth Arden- I’ll pass. I’d heard that Jergens was really good and gradual… But what about streaks or buildup around wrists, knees, and ankles? Can you put it on your face?

Tom William answers:

I LOVEd Clarins but yeah the cost was well…..$$$
I’ve switched to L’Oreal Sublime Bronze and it’s pretty much the only one I will use now. Works very well, has an instant bronzer which is a one two bonus. It gives you a nice instant glow AND it helps you see where you’ve applied so you don’t get streaky or miss spots.
Jergens Daily and Nivea Daily are good choices as well. They are much more subtle but good @ building maintaining color. All 3 do have formulas for face

Paul asks…

Jergens fair skin self tanner?

I just bought the Jergens fair skin tones self tanner and i had a couple questions about it. i’ve heard from reviews that the smell is awful, can i put a normal nice smelling lotion on top or it so it smells like that lotion instead? i’ve also heard that you dont really notice the difference with the fair skin tones, i am veryy white and i was just wondering if i’ll be able to see a difference. can i use the normal daily moisturizer on my face or will that not work? my face is really dry normally except for my nose which is very oily. thanks forr your help!

Tom William answers:

Don’t double up on lotions. It will streak that self-tanner everywhere. If you are very white, I’d drop the Jergen’s and use Nivea’s new one that is a self-tanner and firming lotion. This one is very gradual and really works well on pale skin tones. You can also use it on your face and it doesn’t have a weird odor.

If you want to stick with Jergen’s, try using a body spray to cover up a bit of that self-tan smell.

Betty asks…

Help me with this question, Nobody has been able to help me!!!!! 10 point!!!?

I have this jergens tanning lotion, I don’t exactly know how to use it.
How often should i use it a day and how much. Also my wrist is tanned and so as my face but the rest of my body is clear white, the upper arms, legs, and especially my chest are white, do i put the tanning lotion on the tanned places to or just the white places. Also can i put the tanning lotion on my chest? Thank You for your help

Tom William answers:

First, mix a little bit of your tanning lotion and some regular lotion together or it will streak your skin, bad.

Yes, but your lotion even on the tan spots, and it will even out your tan. If you don’t, it will cause your wrists, and taned spots to be lighter than the rest of your body. Put it all over, your skin!

Tom William answers:

First off…
Be careful because if the lotion is not applied right, your skin will be streaky and orange.. You will look like you went mud bogging.

If you are extremely fair skinned… Then hopefully you bought the kind for light skin…? Im pretty tan.. And I use the medium. Anyways…

I suggest you put some of the lotion in your hand and then put some regular skin lotion in too. ( About 75% tanning lotion 25% other… That’s what I use) But it will not get you AS dark as using only the lotion!

Be especially careful around your knees, elbows, ankles, belly button, hands, and wrists… These areas can get extremely streaky if you don’t do it properly! ( But mixing with the other lotion will alleviate this prob!) You can deffanitely put it on your chest! And you should because if you only apply it to other areas it will look odd! I always wear dark clothing when applying it (because it will stain clothing!) Or I put it on while Im naked… Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly when you are done.. Or your hands will look dirty!!!

After your sunless tan has developed (It will take about three hours) … You can use hydrogen peroxide to lighten any orangey or streaky areas. Apply the hydrogen peroxide with a Q-Tip or cotton ball. Or if there are major mistakes… You can exfoliate the “tan” off with a salt scrub.

After the initial application you probably want to continue to use it… Maybe every other day or just two or three times a week… It will help to keep it looking real… And will also darken the color! :)

Tom William answers:

You can put it anywhere for the most part. If its the natural look one then its going to very gradually make you tan. Apply it every day, just like you would a lotion… And you it should start noticing a difference soon.

Your Questions About Pregnant And Have A Cold

Paul asks…

My wife is pregnant & cold on the inside is it normal ?

She is 38yo 13 weeks pregnant and under the blankets and cold and has a shiver now and again. Her Tempeture is 36.4, calm pretty and soft dark skin.

Tom William answers:

I hope it’s normal because that happens to me too. Just keep her warm at night. I wear a soft sweater only in my front part and my husband hugs me all night.

Ken asks…

Pregnant, cold for 3 weeks?

Hello. I do not have a family dr. I started having cold symptoms about 3 weeks ago. A week and a half ago it moved to my chest. I am 8 months pregnant. My sinuses are clogged everything is dark green and my chest has mucous also. I am coughing but mostly in the morning. (I do have asthma) Should I go to urgent care or just tough it out? I’m worried it could be a sinus infection… Can’t I just take amoxacillian?

Tom William answers:

I would go to the urgent aid or if you have a CVS Minute Clinc or Walgreens that has the Take Care clinic. Both are affordable and are able to get you in right away. They are also the fraction of the cost of urgent aid or ER. Having an infection that close to the end of pregnancy can be dangerous. Have you tried calling your ob/gyn? They might be able to call in a script for you. Hope you feel better.

Sharon asks…

Pregnant = COLD?

I just found out I am 6 weeks pregnant.

I AM COLD ALL OF THE TIME.

I dress in layers, wear a jacket out, etc.

I know it’s 40 outside, but it’s 70 in my house, and I can’t get warm.
I have a blanket on all of the time.

Is this bad blood circulation?

Tom William answers:

Have you seen a doc and been prescribed prenatal vitamins yet??? You may be anemic…and that will make you feel very tired and very cold…

Donna asks…

What should I take for a cold? *pregnant*?

I’m 4 months pregnant and right now I have a pretty bad cold. Its not very bad but bad enough. I’m not coughing as bad as before and that part is almost over, thankfully. But my nose is runny and I can’t sleep because of it. What should I take? Any recommendations? Don’t have any Tylanol u__u

Tom William answers:

Nothing, sweat it out- it’s for the babys sake.

Maria asks…

38 weeks pregnant, cold or something else? Please help..miserable?

Hello, not a very important ? but right now i feel like crap and cant sleep, looking for any possible advice to help…. for the last 4 days (strong) i have had a cold, feels like it is just getting worse! I cant sleep, breath and the sneeezing is horendous, i just cant stop! No fever and when i blow my nose it is clear to light green (sorry~TMI) nothing is helping, any advice??? GOD BLESS~~~
thanks, i feel like crraaappp

Tom William answers:

Hey! There is one decongestant on the planet you can take … But I can’t remember which one. You should call your doctor’s office, or hmm, somebody who’s open today. At 38 weeks pregnant you’re actually pretty safe because your baby is completely formed and there’s no risk of deformation or brain formation. STILL though, they are very leary about you taking anything at all when you are pregnant so you really gotta ask the doctor. The pharmacist is usually even more leary.

But I know I had to take medication for a sinus infection while I was seven months pregnant and there was one thing I could take. It was Adivl sinus I think…? But just double check with the OBGYN because that would be the responsible thing to do.

I’m pretty sure you can also use SOME of the nasal sprays now too :)

Feel better (((hugs)))

Carol asks…

13 weeks 5 days pregnant…. cold feet myth?

Hi Mums out there : i am almost 14 weeks along…..long way still to know the gender but has it been true for anyone that if you have cold feet it means you are carrying a boy. Mine are cold ….actually i am nt very sure what they were before..also the place i live at a place that is cloudy and cold most of the times so maybe its weather related.

Just curious…..thanks in advance….

Tom William answers:

There’s no connection. Ive had 3 boys and never had cold feet. I have them this time but I’m pretty sure its because I’m always laying down, because I’m always exhausted. Dont no the gender yet :-)

Thomas asks…

38 Weeks pregnant – Cold Belly?

Hi All,

I’m 38 weeks preg Thursday and have a really cold belly? Only cold to the touch – as otheriwse i’m HOT all the time?

Any cause for concern??

Thanks Maxine, xx

Tom William answers:

No sounds normal. Mine was normally cold, but remember if you are warm your hands can feel hot, and therefore your stomach will feel cold in comparison

Sandy asks…

Pregnant.Cold throat, wanna throw up feeling? 10 POINTS?

This happens every morning .

i get this cold almost minty feeling in the back of my throat and it makes me feel like i want to throw up, though i never do.

I’ve also been throwing up a little in my mouth , But im never nauseous or anything.

I’ve also been dizzy . Like I will just be laying down and I will feel like i’m going up and down .

I’ve been having some sharp pains through the sides of my boobs .

And oh emotional too ..
Also random sharp stomach pains ?
sorry im tired lol and cant concentrate

But yes thats what i’m asking.

Tom William answers:

There is no way of knowing you are pregnant until you produce a positive pregnancy test. If you suspect pregnancy, take a home pregnancy test. If you keep getting negative results, but do not get your period within 10-14 days of when it was expected, go get a blood pregnancy test done. This will tell you for sure if you are pregnant or not. Good luck!

Mary asks…

Cold……Pregnant?

I have a really bad cold right now…….and i just found out yesterday that I’m pregnant. What can I take for my cold?

Tom William answers:

Say, there’s no need to take drugs for a simple little cold…why not go natural?

I would recommend that you to go the health food store or Wal-mart and get some grapefruit seed extract, either in liquid concentrate or as capsules. Grapefruit seed extract is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. I like the liquid concentrate that NutriBiotic makes. I just put 15 drops in fruit juice and take it. I just take that and 1000 mg of vitamin C, and usually I get over the cold very quickly. It works great!!

Your Questions About Acne Medication

Maria asks…

acne medication?

Do some medications make your acne worse before it gets better?I mean, does your body have to get used to the medication before it becomes effective? I’ve heard that many medications usually bring the acne to the surface so it can heal it or something, making it look worse before it gets better. Is this true?

Tom William answers:

I started a topical antibiotic two weeks ago and it seemed as though all the pimples came to the surface, so it did seem worse for the first two weeks, now though, it seems to be clearing up. I also am taking oral antibiotics which help with the redness and swelling. Good luck.

David asks…

Acne medication?

I’m considering using prescribed acne medication (I’ve tried all sorts of cleansers and eating healthy but I’ve still got acne). Can anyone recommend which medication to use? Please let me know how well it has worked for you, and if you had any side effects. Do I need to use it long term, or can I go on it until my acne clears up, then go off it again???

Tom William answers:

I’ve been battling acne since i hit puberty and have used several different types of acne meds. Many times, you can just go see your family doctor who will give you basic acne meds. If this doesn’t help, they’ll refer you to a dermatologist. The times i’ve been perscribed meds, its always been in three parts, an oral antibiotic such as tetracycline or monocycline, a topical antibiotic – clindamycin, and retin A. These have always worked fairly well for me. Right now, i’m on a 5% benzoyl peroxide wash, topical clindamycin and retin A and my skin is clear. The only side effect i’ve had is very very dry skin for the first week and a half. After that, your skin gets used to it and goes back to almost normal.
I’ve noticed that with my acne, if i don’t use my perscriptions everyday, i get zits. This stuff doesn’t cure acne for good, it just clears up your skin, so its more of a long term thing.
If you want to try something not perscription, consider trying proactive, i’ve used this before too and had great results.

Robert asks…

Acne Medication?

what is the best acne medication that actually works for all skin types? and how fast will it show results?

I dont have major acne, but if i dont treat it now, it will get worse. So i need to know what i can use?
oh yeahh and how effective is murad acne complex?

Tom William answers:

Ok, I bet I wasted atleast $200 bucks on facial cleansers and moisturizers that DONT WORK! Right now I’m using SpectroJel, it eliminates clutter of dead skin cells, oil, makeup, and leaves your skin SOOO glowy and smooth and moisturized, no grease! Oh yeah, and afterwards I just use Aveeno which has natural stuff to smooth out my skin.

Here’s the webbie for SpectroJel:

http://www.spectroskincare.com/

Only around $10, and its good because its basically multipurpose.

And for pimples and acne, use TEA TREE OIL, which you can find in the Body Shop, for around $9, dries up the pimple and heals the acne WOOT WOOT!

Paul asks…

What is the best acne medication for a good price, thats cheaper than proactiv?

proactiv is pretty expensive, but I’m looking for a good acne medication that really works.

Tom William answers:

Try Cetaphil Cleanser, it’s so natural to the skin that you can feel it just like water, odorless. And also try Panoxyl, start first with the low percentage. Me, I tried already other products that are also expensive but not as that effective. Try the two, I’m sure they will work fine for you. Take Care! Hope I will be a good help. C”,

John asks…

Should I stop using a topical acne medication if my face has become dry?

Lately I have been using topical acne treatment where the main parts of my acne were (T-zone), and after about a week of using the medication, the acne has significantly cleared up. Even though, every time I wash my face I can see that the places where I used the medication have become dry and somewhat flakey. Seeing this I used a acne-preventing moisturizer and that helps during the day but my skin is still dry after I wash it. Should I still continue this routine?

Tom William answers:

You can use astringent to get rid of the flakes, but be gentle about it because it might sting. If you could possibly lessen the usage, you should. Also, you might be able to get away with just dabbing your pimples with the medication so that it doesn’t damage the blemish-free skin around it.

Thomas asks…

What can I do to avoid my acne medication from bleaching my pillowcases and shirts?

I use a medication with Benzoyl Peroxide for my acne. It has bleached out my pillow cases and some of my t shirts. I’m going to stop using it because I’m getting new sheets. Does the medication have a half life should I be worried about it bleaching my new sheets if I haven’t used it for a day?
and will continue to not use it.
I dont have a major problem just about anything works, I need to know what wont bleach things.

Tom William answers:

Ask a pharmacist. They will give you the facts pertaining to your exact medication and it doesn’t cost anything.

Susan asks…

What is the best oral acne medication to take?

I have adult acne (Inflammatory acne ) and i’v taken the topical meds but they do not work and i am going to the dermotolegest today and i would like to be in the know about the best oral medication out there.

Tom William answers:

Here are just a few tips to treat them so they would disappear and not multiply.

First of all, when you see a small pimple, try to avoid the temptation of popping it. Popping it can cause it to multiply as it can spread the infection underneath the skin and the next morning you’d find dozens of them on your face! If ever you do pop a zit, make sure you wash it with soap and water or some alcohol to avoid the risk of infection.

Second, wash your face morning and night using mild soap or facial wash. You need to keep your face clean but you don’t need strong cleansers to do this. Stay with the mild ones so you would avoid irritation.

Third, choose the right toner. Toner is the new astringent as it’s a lot gentler to the skin. After washing your face, apply facial toner.

Fourth, exfoliate. Don’t exfoliate your skin everyday! Exfoliate every three days and use a gentle scrub. Don’t use a product that once used would make your face feel like it’s been scrubbed by sandpaper. Your facial skin is really sensitive and it can’t handle such beating. Be gentle with it.

Lastly, get enough sleep. Not enough sleep can cause pimple breakouts so make sure you get 8 hours of sleep a night. Sleep is a very important thing as it reduces your stress level. Stress influences acne breakouts so in order to reduce your stress level, get some sleep! When you have plenty of sleep, you don’t only get rid of acne but you feel much happier too!

I don’t know if any pharmacies stock Acnezine but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product via the offical site http://www.acnezine.com/?aid=853116

It’s really worked for me ive been through a number of different products but this is by far the best

Best Of Luck!

Ken asks…

What is the best OTC acne medication for an over weight person?

Hi, I am over weight and currently looking for an over the counter acne medication that works. I have tried stridex, clearasil, noxema, and acne free and those didn’t work. I tried clean and clear, and that worked for a little while. I also tried Neutrogena, that was the best, but it quit working. Can anyone please tell me something besides these products that you have tried and found sucessful?

Tom William answers:

I used to have acne really bad and know how you feel. One day I was searching for acne cures and crap I found this website http://www.my-info-portal.com/acne/ haha( I bookmarked it lol )

Anyway I got the acne free product deal he recommends and my acne literally disappeared. It was crazy. The product i bought guaranteed it would cure your acne in 3 days or your money back. I think it’s only like $25 or something

Anyway, I hope that helps :)

Jessica

Jenny asks…

What is the best working acne medication that you have used or that you would highly recommend?

I have tried many different solutions but so far–nada. They will always start to work then just stop working. Is it the acne medication or is it something I’m doing?

Tom William answers:

The best way is to get a prescription from your doctor. She/he can give you benzyl peroxide creme or an oral pill that is right for you.
(thats what I did)

good luck

Your Questions About Professional Teeth Whitening

Chris asks…

does professional teeth whitening work on white fillings?

i am thinking of buying professional whitening toothpaste but got a few white fillings on my front teeth will it whiten my fillings any body know

Tom William answers:

It will only whiten natural teeth. It will not work on fillings, veneers, or other dentist work! =)

Mark asks…

how does professional teeth whitening last?

If I went to a proper place instead of just getting a thing from the pharmacy which lasts around a year or so, how long does professional teeth whitening last and how often would I have to get it re-done?

Tom William answers:

Well, like other people answered, it depends on what you eat/drink, and how you take care of your teeth. I used Crest Whitestrips 2 summers ago, and my teeth are STILL white. Yes, I drink cappuccino sometimes, but I always make sure I brush my teeth right after I eat breakfast and before I go to bed. I don’t drink soda (only water, milk, and juices) and I eat VERY LITTLE candy. I’m actually using the Crest 3D White toothpaste which seems to be keeping my teeth white, but its not making them any whiter. I actually have like half the box left lol But I’d say that the profressional teeth whitening would last as long as the crest whitestrips would last. The thing is, is that the laser whitening can harm the enamel (even though dentists claim that it don’t) so. I know people who had that done, and they have extremely sensitive teeth now. But mine hurt after the whitestrips also, so idk. It hurts to be beautiful I guess haha!

Mary asks…

Does professional teeth whitening work on naturally yellow teeth?

Most of my family has naturally pretty yellow teeth, even my young siblings. I am considering getting my teeth professionally whitened. Will this work, even if my tooth color is genetic? Or would it just be a waste? Thanks!

Tom William answers:

Though there is lot of expectations from a professional teeth whitening procedure, there is no one single whitening system which has proved to be effective for all cases.

A dentist and your needs together is the best judge for it.

So it is always preferable that you choose a best dentist and allow him to decide on which tooth whitening system would work best on you rather than yourself choosing a whitening system.

The results too vary depending on the present state of your teeth.

Those with Darker shades tend to get better results. Also the relapse of the teeth whitening varies from person to person.

While choosing dentists you should keep the following things in mind:

- The experience of the dentist in this field
- Number of teeth whitening treatments performed
- Number of teeth whitening methods available
- Testimonials and results of previous patients

once you zero in on a good dentist, allow him to takeover and decide as to what is best for you.

Also do go through the source link for more information on teeth whitening.

James asks…

How much can the professional teeth whitening treatments provided by a dentist cost?

I have had braces and i am thinking about going to a dentist and getting my teeth whitened by a dentist. The only thing is i don’t know how much it costs or even the procedures. Could someone please help me. thanks.

Tom William answers:

Hi my friend,

My dentist told me $400 for the trays of professional whitener professionally molded to the shape of your teeth.
($200 top, $200 bottom)

but if I wait until January, it’s discounted to only $300
($150 top, $150 bottom)

My dentist also offers the one I forget the name but it uses light to whiten, but that costs $800 and does the same thing.

Both options my dentist offered are 10x better than the whiten-at-home things, and they are done professionally.

PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THE WHITEN-AT-HOME SCAMS!

You see, for only $300 I can get my teeth professionally whitened, but if I spend $80 like ten times over the course of several years for the ones like Luminous Brites (SCAM), I could have just as easily spent that $800 on the light-whitening thing at the dentist, or I could do the $300 option that is just as good, and used the other $500 on something more important.

Also, think about the time you’ll have to spend doing it yourself – not to mention most people never even finish one set of them because it’s tedious!

Also, all the ones you can do yourself like Lumious Brites (SCAM) many people have reported it causing sensitive gums, which is a serious dental issue and could cost you another $1,000 – $3,000 in dentist costs!

So just save like $300 and get your dentist to professionally do it for you. Then you have no worries!

Also it’s just a waste of money to pay for the light-whitening or laser-whitening. The dentist makes a ton of money off it too, so don’t let him/her sell you on it! It really works no better than the professional whitening that is placed in a plastic/rubber/ish [professional] impression of your teeth.

Also your dentist knows what he’s doing and if he screws up you can sue him for malpractice so at least you have a fall-back plan so you don’t get screwed up gums and stuck with a $3,000 dental bill. If you screw up your gums yourself, you have no fall-back plan; and plus you’re not an expert but your dentist is.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Susan asks…

How much does professional teeth whitening cost?

I have looked on the internet and there are so many different ways to whiten teeth. I am not going down the route of damaging my teeth enamel by making up some baking soda or using abrasive tooth pastes which damage enamel.

What I want to know is how long does it take for your dentist to whiten my teeth and does it only take one session or more to achieve the Colour I want?

I will pick best answer please don’t tell me to buy any tooth pastes or strips.

Tom William answers:

The best way is to visit a qualified dentist to bleach your teeth. Providing you don’t have any fillings on your front teeth you should have no problem. There are 2 ways dentists will bleach teeth. 1) Power bleaching – normally done in surgery for about 1 hour, bleach is applied then activated by using a blue light. This is an instant result and because so is more likely to cause sensitivity to the teeth and also more likely to cost you more. 2) Overnight bleaching/home bleaching – your dentist will make you a set of trays which you wear at home for at least a couple of hours a day or overnight depending on the concentration of solution given. This will gradually lighten your teeth until you reach your desired shade however this is variable to each person and it does depend on what shade you are starting from initially. In our dental practise, we only do home bleaching as this is much more gentle on the teeth. We charge £400 for upper and lower trays and bleach initially. Please do not be tempted to go to a beauty salon! The do not have the dental knowledge to advise you correctly and it is really illegal for anyone other than a dental surgeon to do with the correct chemicals.

Laura asks…

How long do the results of professional teeth whitening last?

I just saw one answer to a question on this topic here and they said that the results of getting your teeth professionally whitened usually only last 1-2 years. Is that accurate info? Please share your knowledge on this topic or your personal experiences.

Thanks!

Tom William answers:

How long you can maintain your whitened teeth will depend on several things. If your discoloration is from drinking a lot of of tea, coffee, wine or tobacco products and you don’t change your habits, then the whitening effect won’t last as long. It helps a lot to brush with baking soda and peroxide every day and floss your teeth everyday as well.

Thomas asks…

How long do the results from professional teeth whitening last?

I am getting my braces off during April break after 3 years, and my teeth have always been yellow-ish. My mom said I could have my teeth whitened professionally once because its expensive. i have heard it lasts 6-9 months but I was wondering if that applies to me because i don’t drink any coffee or tea and i don’t smoke.

i plan on using crest whitestrips afterwards to keep them white.

Tom William answers:

Yep, 6-9 months.

Carol asks…

Teeth whitening done by a professional?

Does it hurt to have your teeth professional whitened?

I have extremely sensitive teeth. I have to go back to the dentist because when I had my braces, my teeth weren’t taken care of like they should’ve been and I believe I may have a couple cavities now. Will they get rid of those before bleaching my teeth?

Tom William answers:

Sorry but don’t listen to anyone that tells you not go see a dentist. If you have cavities or old fillings, you should consider bleaching your teeth first then have those cavities filled. If you have tooth color fillings, those fillings will not be bleach and they will need to be replaced to match to your new tooth color. You should always get professional advise before bleaching your teeth. Also, if your have sensitive teeth you need a dentist to properly prescribe the correct bleaching concentration and bleaching agent.

Sandra asks…

How much money is reasonable for a professional teeth whitening?

I when to a dental office that can do it for 399. is this a good price, or should I look for more competitive price?
They do the Zoom whitening procedure, is it good?
I live in Tampa bay area in Florida, any dental office recommedations would be great! :)

Tom William answers:

It depends – that’s probably a good price for a take home bleaching kit where you put the gel in trays and wear for several hours a day. If that’s the price for Zoom, jump on it! My office charges $550. Ask the dentist if he will give you a discount for cash.

Lizzie asks…

can you buy professional teeth whitening products in uk?

Tom William answers:

Be careful what you buy though i have heard from a few people of very bad experiences from so called professional whitening systems causing severe damage to their mouths, blistered lips, swelling etc. Always go with the advice from your dentist i would say

Donald asks…

What are the best teeth whitening products?

I’ve been using Crest 3D tooth paste but haven’t seen the results I’m looking for. I’ve also used the Rembrandt two hour whitening kit. Visible results, but I don’t think my teeth are as white as they can be.

What are some great whitening products? I can’t afford to go to the dentist, so professional whitening isn’t an option.

I’m open to all kinds of suggestions, tips, and advice.

Thanks<3

Tom William answers:

Crest 3D White strips. You can also gargle with hydrogen peroxide before brushing.

Lisa asks…

What products give you the best teeth whitening?

I intend to go to my dentist and ask him for an opinion.

Other than professional whitening, what whitening products give YOU personally the best whitening result (whether it be strips, homemade products, or whatever else you use)?

Just curious

Tom William answers:

If you purchase the whitening gel from the store or your dentist, then go to a tanning salon and put the gel on your teeth, and tan with your mouth open it makes your teeth beautifully white! They make a plastic thing that goes in your mouth to hold your lips out of the way so you are not uncomfortable. I do this and it really works great!

Paul asks…

Best teeth whitening products and preparations ….?

Hi
The cost of professional teeth whitening is just outside my budget.

Any suggestions as to home made or propriety products that are worth a try?

Would like some suggestions please.

Gemhak

Tom William answers:

Baking soda has been the best teeth whitening product so far, and you can mix it with the salt to make a cheap teeth whitening product at home. In addition to using these products, it is also essential to take healthy diet, avoid snacking, drinking plenty of water and rinsing your mouth thoroughly after each meal. Natural teeth whitening products are cheap, and quite effective. You can get a winning smile without spending a fortune, or hurting the tissues in your mouth.

Strawberries are also one of the best teeth whitening products, and they can be easily rubbed on the teeth or brushed on after being mashed up in a paste. Rinse after leaving for five minutes. Inside of orange peel is also one of the best teeth whitening natural product. You can either rub the inside of the peel on the teeth, or take the dried orange peel, and make paste along with ground bay leaves and brush it on.

Another one of the best teeth whitening method is to avoid drinking the water with added fluoride or using the fluoride toothpaste, as this can discolor your teeth. Many countries have banned the use of fluoride in their drinking water due to symptoms and diseases associated with it.

Your Questions About Professional Teeth Whitening Kit

Robert asks…

What is the best at-home teeth whitening kit? Does it work like professional dental bleaching?

Tom William answers:

I’ve been playing around with so many teeth whitening products, and I never was very pleased until now. I always found that the strips always moved around, there would be gel all over my mouth (that tastes horrible), and I would be uncomfortable the entire time they were in my mouth (I had to stop swallowing with a few, because the whitening gel would be swallowed too). So suffice to say, I never had a pleasant experience.
But I tried the Crest Whitestrips Advanced Seal, and I love them! They stay to my teeth (don’t slide around), they have very little gel that is messy, and I barely notice them in my mouth. You have to wear them once a day for 30 mins, but they are so worth it. I put them on at night, get ready for bed, take a shower whatever, and they don’t make me cringe to have nasty stuff all over my mouth. After one day I noticed a difference, so I really only use them for 4 days, (or however much I want my teeth whiter), then save the rest for the next time I notice my teeth could be whiter. I’ve never had whitening at the dentist, so I can’t compare.

Daniel asks…

Can anyone recommend a good home teeth whitening kit?

I have yellow teeth and I really want to whiten them. I can’t afford professional whitening so I was hoping for a good home teeth whitening option. I have tried Crest white strips and they suck. Any recommendations?

Tom William answers:

I had your same problem. My issue was my teeth got too sensitive and nothing I tried worked until I found this site: http://besthometeethwhiteningkits.com. It’s different from the other stuff out there. It’s a pen, you apply it, wait a few minutes then move on with your life (and enjoy whiter teeth of course). It doesn’t cause sensitivity and you don’t have to mold trays to fill with nasty gel and sit there forever. It seriously worked fast and I wish I hadn’t wasted all that money on other stuff. Hope this helps!

Mandy asks…

How do the teeth whitening kits compare to the professional appointments?

Just wondering if the extra money is worth it. thanks!

Tom William answers:

I agree with the other answerer.

I tried the crest night effects nighttime whitening expression when it first came out (idk if they even still make it)…i didn’t think that it worked at all (it seemed like my saliva washed it away and it didn’t really stay on).

A few months ago i got custom bleaching trays and gel from my dentist – it worked amazingly well! Depending on where you live it doesn’t cost that much (i got the trays and 4 syringes of the gel for $50). I (and others) noticed that my teeth were whiter after 1-2 nights.

As for the pro. Appointments (like ZOOM whitening) i think they work really well too. I, personally haven’t tried it but have known some people that have. It does cost a little more and is really quick (after your 15ish minute appointment you can tell)

honestly i would go with the bleaching trays from ur dentist. Yes, it takes a little more time than the ZOOM whitening but i think the results are just as good (and if you have really stained teeth, you do this after ZOOM whitening any way to help maintain it)

hope this helps! =)

Richard asks…

Professional Take Home Teeth Whitening?

I am going to be going to the dentist for a professional teeth cleaning. I would like to have a mold of my teeth taken for a whitening kit. How does this whitening kit work? Do I just squirt the bleach in there?

Tom William answers:

You put the bleach in a whitening tray then you put it on your teeth. I suggest you don’t get your teeth whitened this way. My friend used whitening trays….once. If you accidently get the bleach not on your teeth, it is EXTREMELY painful, and it is more than likely you will do this. Try go smile, or a whitening toothpaste.

Ken asks…

where can i get professsional teeth whitening from in uk?

I want to have proper professional teeth whitening done not at home kit. Which is the best treatment and where can i have it done?
WHICH IS THE BEST TEETH WHITENING TREATMENT?

Tom William answers:

Best to ask your dentist to recommend one.
It is quite expensive and will not alter the natural colour of your teeth, so take advice.

Helen asks…

Whats the best home tooth whitening kit?

i want to know whats the best home tooth whitening kit?
i don’t have enough money to go to a professional and my teeth are basically fine, no stains. but i would like them to be a little whiter .

what has worked for you?

Tom William answers:

Apperntly
baking soda

im tryin it now
it seems to be working but ive only bushed about 4 times so
but its seems to be workin
just wet ur brush and dip it in
it tastes like ur washing ur mouth out with salty water
do not sallow it

hope it helps

Charles asks…

Alternatives to Zoom teeth whitening system?

Hi,

I read a lot of horror stories abotu how painul Zoom teeth whitening system is and I do not wish to go through this pain since I know my teeth are very sensitive. Does anyone know any alternative methods? Or professional whitening kits at home that I could get from my doctor without the ZOOM thing?

Tom William answers:

The Ultradent brand of products have a non-sensitivity component in them…..that I have tried (get very sensitive) and works…..You might see if your dentist caries that brand.

Mary asks…

Professional teeth whitening at the dentist: does it last/is it worth the money??

My teeth have gotten yellow over the years due to being a coffee drinker.

I get those little cheap whitening kits from Rembrant and the white-strips, and they do a so-so job of removing the yellowness. It doesn’t really get my teeth white; it just makes them look a little bit better.

But after I do the two-week plan of white-strips and stop using them, my teeth get yellow again very quickly.

This summer I am thinking of saving up and having my teeth professionally whitened at the dentist. I think it costs about $350.

I was wondering if anyone has some input on whether it is worth the money. When you have it done professionally, does it last at least a year or so???

I don’t want to spend that kind of money if my teeth are going to end up yellow again after a month or two. Thanks.

Tom William answers:

The extra white you get with professional is very temporary. The Rembrandt kit has the same ingredient, just weaker solution. Try a second kit. Few people get white white teeth, but get improvement in their overall lightness

Thomas asks…

Will this tooth whitening kit work?

http://www.amazon.com/Professional-Whitening-Boosters-Optimized-Formula/dp/B000O3SHF8/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1_s9_rk?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&s9r=8a585b43187966e8011b9b7a69c650bd&itemPosition=1&qid=1230768319&sr=8-1

Wondering if anyone has ever tried it before? Is it safe? And is there any other options for getting whiter teeth?

Thank you, happy new year!

Tom William answers:

No, haven’t used it before.

Never heard of it before either.

Make sure you read the product manual before you use it.

You don’t want to take any risk for irreversible damage.

Good luck !!

Your Questions About Keep Facebook Chat Offline

Carol asks…

Is there a way to be offline to others on Facebook but still chat with someone?

I just came across a problem on Facebook. I want to chat with my friend, but I keep getting annoying chats with other people that pop up. I only want to chat with my friend, so is there a way to appear offline to everyone else but my friend?

Thanks!(:

Tom William answers:

When u open chat at the top there is a bar u can make a groups and thn put the ppl u wanna talk to in the group and thn all the other ppl will b in a group called other friends thn touch the green circle by tht labor and tht shud c u as offline

Steven asks…

i keep trying to chat to someone on facebook and when i try to open the chat box they just go offline?

but when i close the chat box and refresh the page they are back online .is it because they have blocked me or something ot just internet connection please help

Tom William answers:

No it isn’t because they blocked you, if they blocked you, then you shouldn’t be able to see their profiles. Maybe your friends don’t want to talk to you but i doubt that…It’s about the facebook problem.

Richard asks…

Facebook keeps telling my friends I randomly go offline on the chat?

i’m sure you know what i mean, but like; if i’m talking to a friend on fb chat, they sometimes im me later and say that i went offline when i didn’t? it’s not from changing tabs or anything.
can i fix this?

Tom William answers:

Facebook chat has many glitches.. Everyone gets that, its pretty lame. Not much u can do but just dont worry about it

Nancy asks…

can u block someone off facebook chat?

this is a bit of a tricky one, my dad is from algeria and i live in england, one of my cousines from over there has added me on facebook and keeps chatting to me everytime im online! the problem isw he is sooo annoying and i dont want to be rude and just not respnd to him. i dont want to delete him as i dont want to upset the family but i cant stand it nemore and dont want to have to keep appearing offline which means i cant chat to my other friends… arghhhhhh annoying!!! ne iseas????

Tom William answers:

Just don’t reply to him and he will eventually get the message. Tell him that your computer is not working properly and that you are not receiving his messages.
Damn! You have a life! I know that some guys can be very annoying. I just block them on msn but I’m guessing that on facebook chat you would have to delete them? I don’t know but if you block and delete someone on msn they don’t know you have deleted them and they never see you on.
I don’t use facebook chat but I sometimes have to appear offline because of people I don’t want to talk to but do not want to be rude to.
Facebook should have stealth settings like yahoo messenger where you can just appear offline to certain people when you are actually online!

Ruth asks…

Yahoo Messenger in Facebook keeps going offline, online, offline, online when you try to chat. any sugguestion?

Tom William answers:

If it says the other persons offline when theyre really not, you can continue chatting. It wont affect your chatting.

Chris asks…

Facebook chat: not working, keeps telling me my friends are offline when they’re not?

As soon as I click on a friend’s name to message them, Facebook will sign him/her off. Anyone else having this problem?

Tom William answers:

Omg same it’s super annoying!…
If i found a Solution Ill keep you informed!

Good luck :)

Lizzie asks…

My crush hates me because of facebook chat.Help me! T_T?

Last week,my crush suddenly chatted me on facebook.I was so surprise and happy!
Him: ….elow!..
It took me 5 minutes to reply because …you know I’m screaming and bragging it to my online classmates.
Me: Hi! :3
then facebook was crushing.
*his name* is offline.
*his name* is online.
then he replied…
Him: Can we be friends?
I was like…WOOOOOOOW! sure sure…of course it took me 8-10 minutes to reply cause of joy.(at the same time I was talking about it with my friends)
I reply with: YES! :3 <3 <3 <3
Then the crushing happens again.
Its been 10 minutes and he didnt reply.
I was sooo sad. T^T
I keep waiting for him to reply
After 40 minutes he logged out.
I was like “O.O”
Facebook chat keeps crushing so I refresh the page. When I looked at my chatbox,it turns out MY LAST REPLY WASNT SENT! Our wifi is unstable! That means……I didnt reply to my crush if I wanted to be friends with him! I dont know what to do because he’s already offline.
The next day,we passed by each other I said hi to him but he didnt hi back but he hi backed and smile with my friends who too have a crush on him.Whenever we saw each other,he always turns away.I keep saying hi to him but he never hi back to me so I stopped. There are a lot of times when my friends caught him staring at me.My friends always whispered at me “look,he’s staring at you.” but ofcourse I cant confirm it because Im too shy he might think im full of myself because he thinks i didnt want to be friends with him..Yesterday after school,we crossed each other he’s with his bestfriend -(a close friend of mine) I said hi to his bestfriend and his bestfriend said hi too.I can feel my crush is looking at me but I cant really look at him.I walked faster but my crush stopped walking and waited for me to pass by and when I passed by he continues to walk. Why did he stop walking?
Arrrgh,It’s a sign that he really hates me! What should I do? Should I message him in facebook about it? BU~T Im too shy to message him and I cant chat with him because he’s offline to me in fb chat. T_T

Tom William answers:

I think that you should be more friendly to him. He senses your nervous behaviour due to fear, as a negative vibe towards him. Just smile and say hi. But don’t be nice all the time. Try to be witty, fun and fearless. The key to popularity is being friendly, creative, unique. Just be yourself! When you send out positive energy, its amazing what’s returned. So, moving on. I think you’ll understand the answers if you just stop and observe.

Laura asks…

facebook chat problem – talking to someone and they randomly go offline and online?

this keeps happening to me. I’ll be talking to someone and they just randomly go offline and online without even knowing it. I’ve been told that I do this also even though I’m on the same page the entire time. Is there a way to fix this?

Tom William answers:

The problem is at facebooks end, there is nothing you can do about it. Facebook has 100′s of servers and chances of being on the same server as the person you are chatting with is very slim. As the servers cycle you will momentarily lose connection but your chat will still go through (unless the server went down). Hopefuly someday Facebook will upgrade to a more stable chat program.

Cheers

Maria asks…

My Facebook chat help please?

My facebook chat keeps saying the person is online and offline . What do i do ?

Tom William answers:

Same problamo here. It’s so annoying its been doing it for days to me. But this time it said they were offline altogether – no online afterwards.

I’m on mozilla. Ive logged in and out and started a new browser but still not working :( and other people are online just this one person where it says they aren’t.

Facebook is pretty rubbish. They need to sort everything out properly without ruining peoples’ only form of communication from england to flipping hungary. Damn facebook.

Your Questions About Are There Natural Ways To Increase Breast Size

Donald asks…

this ere a way to increase my breast size with out gaining weight anywhere else? I don’t want a big butt or wa?

re a way to increase my breast size with out gaining weight anywhere else? I don’t want a big butt or waist or anything. I just want bigger boobs? So how do i make them bigger? is there a natural way to do it? or what?

Tom William answers:

Maybe if you exercise your breast muscles they’ll increase and give you a lift.

Robert asks…

Is there a natural way (through nutrition or something) to increase the size of your breasts?

Tom William answers:

No there isn’t.

No food, cream, pill, herb or supplement will make breasts larger.

Four ways to do it:
1. Breast enhancement surgery
2. Pregnancy
3. Gain a lot of weight
4. Birth control pills do for some women (not all).

If it makes you feel any better, men are stuck with they have too and no enhancements work for them either!

Good luck!

Linda asks…

Tom William answers:

The only way to really change you breast size is to have surgery. However, to feel better about yourself, start a weight lifting routine which will improve your appearance in so many ways.

John asks…

Healthier ways than this?

besides breast implants, are there any healthy, natural way to increase breast size?

Tom William answers:

Well there was an article I read a while back that linked lavender oil to breast growth in boys. It was from the New England Journal of Medicine. I’m not sure if it will work for women but it may.

If you are looking to firm them up you could also try push ups or bench press. If you muscles get bigger that may push them out more.

George asks…

what should i do to increase my breast?

i am 17yrs old n still wear a 30b size bra,i am also a bit skinny,i do not want implants, are there any natural ways to increase my breast?

Tom William answers:

Completely honest guy’s perspective:
Ignore the media and stereotypes. Focus on being an incredible, well-rounded person.

Thomas asks…

Natural Ways?

Are there any ways to naturally increase breast size without having operations?

Tom William answers:

Do exercises to strengthen your pectoral muscles, the muscles that are under your breasts, this will make your breasts appear bigger. Either that or put on weight, that’ll do it too. Or you could just learn to be happy with what you’ve got.

Richard asks…

Is there a way to increase bust size without surgury or booster bras?

I have smll breasts and would like some suggestions on how to improve the size in a more natural way

Tom William answers:

What you want to do is exercise the muscles that support and surround the breasts. Since the breast is mostly fatty tissue there is little that you can do to increase their actual size. What you can do is keep the surrounding and supporting muscles fit and toned. Also you want to practice good posture.

Your Questions About I Have Pimples On My Forehead What Do I Do

Jenny asks…

I’m keep getting alot of under-the-skin pimples on my forehead, what should I do?

I don’t wear any foundation and have been washing my face twice a day, but it doesn’t go away?

Tom William answers:

Make sure u have no bangs on skin.. Dont play /and or touch your forehead..dont over scrub.. Get a bit of sun… Use toothpaste on really bad ones at nite… And use clearasil face wash and after wash creams they are the best and worked for my neice

David asks…

i have pimples on my forehead only and they wont go away no matter what ive used. what should i do?

i tired prescription, herbal and many other but nothing worked.even went to docs but no help..also getting rid of pimple scars on forehead. how?
proactive made my skin break out more
o my parents think its cuz of my digestive track or something like dat

Tom William answers:

Pimples on your forehead are related to your intestinal tract. Be sure to get plenty of fiber and eat healthy. Start a good washing regime, i like the following products: purpose face wash, neutrogena daily scrub gentle and queen helene’s mint julipe face mask. Did your doc put you on pills for acne or just topical creams? If the creams didn’t work, i would ask for pills. Also, ask for light treatment once a week. It will help to dry out your skin.

The comment about hair products is good as well: grease from your hair, if you have bangs, can lead to pimples and hair products, like hairspray, can clog pores.

Charles asks…

i have dry skin. and am getting pimples on my forehead?

I dont know but am really worried as am getting pimples on my forehead. i have dry skin. i dont use any kind of creams. and i dont eat much oily or spicy food. What could be the reason. How do i solve it?

Tom William answers:

Acne is caused by clogged pores and/or bacteria. To prevent pimples, wash your face morning and evening with a gentle cleanser that is oil free, but designed for dry or sensitive skin. Follow up with an oil free moisturizer. Then use a cream on your acne prone areas that contains benzoyl peroxide. Since you have dry skin normally, I would advise only using the acne cream either every other day, or even maybe every 3 days. Once your skin gets used to it, you can increase how often you use it. Also, since dead skin cells can clog pores, try exfoliating with a srub that contains “microbeads” and use no more than twice a week. Also, drink lots of water to keep your skin hydrated.

Steven asks…

i have been getting pimples on my forehead during summers?

plus i have tried lemon but it leaves the skin with pores,,,then i started using pears -mint soap .,,its nice and it suits but it sometimes sticks on to face…what should i do?

Tom William answers:

I have the same problem sometimes. I think it’s because of my hair, and it got better when i made sure to wash it a lot and try to keep it out of my face. I just use a generic face wash and cream/lotion, and it’s improved for me.

Paul asks…

My friend has a lot of pimples on her forehead, how can i tell her( see details)?

my friend has lots of pimples on her forehead and they all look very gross. i try to tell her but i think it will hurt her feelings. what should i do? how can i tell her?

Tom William answers:

I’m sure she knows they are there. Please don’t point them out to her-if she is your friend she doesn’t need to hear that from you.

Sharon asks…

I only have pimples on my forehead. No where else? What can I do?

Yes I have bangs and I have had them since I was 4. I am currently 13 and I have no acne anywhere but my forehead. I wash my bangs nightly and clean my forehead what else can I do to get rid of them?

Tom William answers:

Read the ingredients of your shampoo and conditioner…they could have silicone..which clogs pores. If it has anything with the suffix “–ethicone” then throw it out and find something without it. One common ingredient is dimethicone that is added to “coat the hair adding to manageability and softness.” Gee, that is great, but I would rather have clear skin.

You can find more natural shampoos/conditioners at places like Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s — but you can find some silicone free shampoos at the drug store. They will be more expensive. I use either Trader Joe’s or Nexus. Nioxin and other salon brands are good guesses..but to be sure just read the ingredients!

Tom William answers:

Do yourself a favour and go see your doctor. The pimples are no big deal to do something about and I have a brother who has fair skin and red hair so you can imagine that as soon as he turned 16 the pimples. He went to the doctor and got a prescription for a specific antibiotic for pimples and also a gel cream to put on his face. It is now smooth as with no scars.

Your Questions About How Do You Know You Have Water Retention

Helen asks…

question about water weight gain and retention…36 weeks pregnant?

Ok, so I was wondering about how long does it take to lose water weight after having the baby? I am due Sept 30th. In the last week or 2 I have had alot of water retention. Bad pitted edema up to me knees and now I have noticed it in my thighs and butt. I know you can retain alot in the last trimester. But I was just wondering how fast I can lose it after the baby is born? This is making my legs very sore and hard to move around. I talked to my docs and they said rest and elevation. Doesnt help very much, if you ask me.

Tom William answers:

I was told by person after person not to worry about the water weight gain – it goes away shortly after you give birth – most people told me within days. I hope this rings true for you.

For me – It took me almost 3 weeks to be able to wear my wedding rings again — and my legs and feet which were a nightmare before I gave birth – actually got worse for a week AFTER I had my sons.

About 2 weeks after giving birth – I was having the lovely night sweats that can occur after you give birth – which no one told me about I’d like to add – LOL – I did notice that the swelling would go down considerably after one of these episodes of night sweating.

Your doctor is right though – try to stay off of your feet as much as possible. Good luck and congrats!

Lisa asks…

Does lack of sleep cause water retention?

I get like 5-6 hours of sleep a night. And I’m 13. On weekends although I’m in bed for many hours, though I have a problem where my body constantly wakes up by itself, a few times a night. so I don’t know reaaly how many hours I’m truly asleep. I retain a lot of water. Most overweight have fat faces. But believe me a fat face and chubby face are two completely different things. My cheeks are chubby, and I’m underweight, I can tell it’s water weight because i’ve cut salt out of my diet, and my face puffyness decreased. And another sign is that under my eyes there’s a lot of water, I’m not kidding you can clearly see the water, it looks like I cut my skin in that area put water in it thhene sealed it again, it looks weird it looks like that area is a water storage area that I can drink from later. is this linked to my extreme lack of sleep.

Tom William answers:

You need to talk to a doctor about your sleeping problems. You could have a condition called sleep apnea (which can kill people if severe enough) that could be causing you to wake up. Does your family hear you snoring at night?
Sleeping problems need to be looked at because they can cause a lot of health problems. Sleep depervation can be very serious if not taken care of.

Everyone has some water retention and that’s a good thing unless it’s too much, but it’s not due from lack of sleep. Excercise more and see if that helps.

I would talk to your doctor as soon as possible. Don’t let things like this go.

DHA question, and question about water retention?

i asked this same question yesterday; and got one response that didn’t make any since. so i’m asking again, hopefully someone on here will have some info :)

how much DHA is recommended during pregnancy?
i take expectra once a day, and it had 200mg, but i’ve read that you should have between 200-1,000mg;; so i’m wondering what everyone else thinks. i don’t really eat much fish, and i get milk with DHA in it, but i don’t like milk, i just use it for cereal about once a week.

also, i know sodium causes your body to retain water and swell, but what else does. my ankles have recently gotten swollen, and i would like to know how i can fix that, or make it so it wont get worse.

Tom William answers:

I have been taking fish oil (huge source of DHA) for years, and I double it when pregnant. I can not sing its praises enough. DHA is one of the largest components of brain matter and is an essential fatty acid. Studies have shown that people lacking in DHA often suffer from problems such as ADHD, alzhemiers, depression and a decline in cognitive capactiy. While you are growing a little brain inside you, there is no better time to ensure that you have enough DHA!

But I am not a scientific genius, so do not take my word for it, here are some articles you can read to get educated. Best Wishes for a safe delivery and a healthy baby!

Ken asks…

when does the fluid retention go away?

hi,

i had my baby last saturday and i’ve already seen a dramatic change in my stomach area (dang near as flat as i was pre-baby) but i’m wondering when does the water retention in my legs go away? i know that i only gave birth 5 days ago, i’m not trying to rush anything, it’s just something i was wondering about.

so how long after birth did you notice you weren’t as puffy anymore?

Tom William answers:

For me it took a few weeks..ugh..but it does go away, especially if you drink A LOT of water. If you were put on pitocin to help speed labor , then that gives you alot of water retention as a side effect. That and the IV!

Mandy asks…

How do i eliminate fluid retention around my mid section?

Hi, im 23 yrs old, i weigh 65kg’s, i go to the gym about 4-5 times a week, do cardio and weights, i drink my 8 glasses of water a day minimum and have been taking fluid retention tablets to assist me loose excess weight from water and fluids. Its no working!
I know that to beat water retention you drink more water to flush it out, there is no problem there i do drink plenty of water, given i exercise quite a bit i drink more then i should. I was wondering if anyone knew of any great fluid releasing diuretics? I eat planty of vegetables and fruit, not much animal protein but definately plant proteins and some in cheese.
Please let me know of anything you have tried that works :)
Thanks in advance

Tom William answers:

Visit your doctor or ask for a diuretic if your doctor thinks your problem is severe. Be careful because long-term diuretic use can cause potassium deficiency. This deficiency contributes to osteoporosis and can also be fatal.
Convert to a low-salt diet to help control water retention. Elevate your legs when sitting.
Use 10 to 20 drops tincture of dandelion root. This herb not only reduces water retention, but helps with functioning of the adrenals, kidneys and digestive system. You can use it for as long as you like and it also helps ease the changes of menopause.
Eat lots of watermelon, corn, grapes, cucumber and asparagus. These fruits and vegetables all inhibit water retention.
Drink small amounts of coffee and black tea as a diuretic. Eat small amounts of celery and parsley to reduce water retention.

Steven asks…

After you give birth, do you slim down anywhere but the belly? How bout butt and thighs? any hope for me?

I mean in the week or so after delivery…i know you are suppose to lose water weight right away. I know i will have to work out alot, but just wondering if any of it could be water retention

Tom William answers:

Yeah, water retention is a biggie. I don’t expect for my ankles and feet to automatically turn back to normal as soon as the baby pops out; I’m bringing a maternity dress instead of loose pants and maternity top for going home from the hospital because I have NO CLUE how my body is going to be. I wouldn’t expect the swelling to go down for a few weeks. With the first baby I didn’t have a lot of water retention but this time I do. However, I didn’t really feel like doing much because of the new mommy experience I got like ZERO sleep and didn’t feel like doing much outside of baby duty. However, once I got better enough to start working out a little, I lost weight everywhere. I actually managed to get back to my prepregnancy body…. And then improved on that. It was very nice because it didn’t feel like I’d worked that hard to get to that point, I think the breastfeeding definitely helped with that one! However, I’d put myself on a very crazy “diet” and my father thought I was losing my mind, but I never felt hungry or tired for lack of food/nutrition so at least for me, it worked.

So yes, there is definitely hope for you. I won’t lie, there MIGHT be some parts of you that will be hard to change back (I still had a tummy paunch and stretch marks from my first baby tummy when I started this pregnancy) but overall I think it’s possible to get your body back.

Richard asks…

How much water should I drink while pregnant?

As I have high blood pressure and water reteintion before pregnancy. I’m still on the Blood pressure medication, but not on the water medication. I will be 5 weeks on Friday.

I have a lot of back ache and my legs are hurting also with it.
I know that not drinking enough water can cause this but since I have water retention problems, I am scared.

I do watch my salt intake I know that! But what about the water in take how much DO I drink! with this problem ??? and is this back ache and legs hurting OK or what is it caused from?

Thanks so much! You all help so much when I need it.

Oh and my first OB/GYN doctor appointment is not until April 1st.
Oh and I do have Rheumatoid Arthritis also.

Tom William answers:

64oz minimum!

John asks…

Dehydrated and retaining water at 33w?

I have been retaining water for a few days. I cut back on salty/junk food immediately a few days ago but it has not helped w/ the swelling.

I have been unrealistically thirsty for days and drinking only water, no sodas or anything else.

I keep drinking because I am so thirsty but it does not relieve the water retention.

To let you know how much water I am drinking, so far today (by 2 pm in the afternoon) I have drank 200 oz of water (12.5 pints or 5,910 milliliters) and still slamming them from thirst.

I was tested negative for gestational diabetes and have no protien in my urine.

The swelling is constant, I am even swollen after sleeping all nite.

I am very uncomfortable, what should I do to relieve this?

I called my doc and the nurse was rude and said ‘well, dear, swelling is normal during pregnancy’ and did not give me any advice on how to reduce it.

Have you experienced this and do you know what will help? Is this type of fluid intake normal?
Oh, yes, I am urinating normally and frequently.

Tom William answers:

Hi!! I had swelling too. If I pushed on my legs it looked like modeling clay and would stay that way for a little while. Still try to remain as active as you can but take small breaks and put your feet up. Drink your water like you are. Don’t wear tight socks, mine would imprint into my legs. Good Luck!!
