Your Questions About Severe Acne Treatment

Ken asks…

Chest acne how to get rid of it?

Severe acne on the breasts, i cannot afford to experiment with the variety of treatments. Are their any cheap or home made remedies that may work?

Tom William answers:

Apply orange peel paste on and around the pimples.
Apply garlic on and around the pimples to remove it without a mark.
Zinc, Vitamin A, Vitamin B and Vitamin E are the best nutrients to cure the acne. So take a balanced diet full of nutrients and vitamins.
Mix lime juice and rose water in equal proportion. Apply it on affected areas and allow it to dry for 10 minutes.

Even after the treatment, acne leaves scars. Excellent home remedies to remove acne scars are listed here. Follow these tips to get rid of the acne scars.

Rub ice cubes on face for 10 minutes to tighten the pores.
Cucumber juice can also be used to tighten the pores. Apply it and allow it to dry for 10 minute

Carol asks…

Help with semi-severe acne?

I’ve been suffering with acne since I was 12 & I’m almost 20 now
It was a lot worse when I was younger & has thankfully calmed down over the years but it is still a problem
In the past, I’ve tried ProActiv, creams from the doctor, pads with the salicyclic acid on them, face cleansers, pretty much anything you can think of
My main problem is that I have an overproductive amount of oil in my face
Another problem is I don’t have health insurance so I can’t go to the doctor to get a treatment that I’m not even sure would work
I was looking at some acne kits at the drug store but my mom was worried I would be wasting my money since she knows I’ve tried stuff like that in the past
I’ve looked around online & it seems the only way to really get rid of acne that isn’t just a mild break out is to get some type of costly laser treatment
I have scarring from the worse part of the acne I had a few years ago as well
Like I said, it’s not as bad as it used to be but it still makes me feel really ugly so I would like to try to at least lessen it
Are there any ways I can do that without doctor’s visits?
Thanks

Tom William answers:

If your face is as oily as you say then I would try cleaning it with some rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball (Only costs about $1.00 for the bottle of alcohol at any drug store, and about $2.00 for the bag of cotton balls). I would do this a few times a day to try and dry it out a bit. If you start to get too dry then I would cut back to once a day.
Another thing I would do is wash your face with a plain soap and water (nothing fancy or perfumed). Then I would also take a look at what you are eating. A lot of potato chips and chocolates can make you break out so if you eat that you can try cutting those things out. And believe it or not touching your face often makes acne worse as you have natural oils on your fingers so try not to do that. I don’t bother with any of those acne treatments in stores but I find that the alcohol and sometimes even witch hazel work for me. Good Luck.

Michael asks…

Acne treatment question?

I don’t have really bad acne, at all.

I’ve never gotten acne on my cheeks.

I get red bumps on my chin, red rings around my nostrils (it looks like i constantly have a cold), red bumps between my eyebrows, and pretty bad (not severe) blackheads on my nose.

I’m not sure if it’s really acne that i’m getting, because I can’t pop any of it. When I squeeze them, they don’t expand and nothing comes out, they just get more red.

The red rings around my nostrils itch sometimes, not bad.

I’m a girl. I’m 15.

I don’t directly wash my face, meaning it just gets wet in the shower.

What are some products I can buy to clear up what I have?
I do not wear any makeup, at all.
I do not wear any makeup, at all.

Tom William answers:

Its good you dont directly wash your face, thats what you should do, stay away from touching or washing your face too much. When you put water on your face in the shower, dont let it be too hot either.
Apple Cider Vinegar is the best way to get rid of acne, aside from eating healthy.
The information in this video works for many people, and many of them have left comments as you can see:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbsqZKDlHNQ

Theres a site called earthclinic (you may already know it), but people vote on what worked best for them, and apple cider vinegar has the most votes out of anything

http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/acne.html

I really wish people knew about this and stayed away from the acne products you buy in the stores. Treating it naturally is better for your skin in the long run and its alot cheaper than all those acne products anyways.

It may be a form of acne rosacea that you have. If thats the case, then google “rosacea forum” and join the most popular forums you find and get tips from other people dealing with it. I have rosacea (not acne rosacea though) and its a life long problem and different things work for different people. For me, just keeping my stress levels down is the only way I’ve found that gets rid of the redness. So make sure you don’t have acne rosacea (look at some pictures in google) because treatment is different for each person when it comes to that.

Sandy asks…

does proactiv treat severe acne?

i have severe acne even, cystic acne. i am wondering how long does proactiv take before i see results? i been using 2 weeks it broke me out worse, i think that’s normal at first then its supposed to start working. what are some other good treatments other than accutane?

Tom William answers:

I hear that it works very well but there is a catch. What they don’t tell you on the commercial is that there are all these extra things you have to do like what not to eat. So it is not as easy as just putting it on and it magically working.

Linda asks…

hie, can some one tell some natural things like.. neem, aloevera..etc.

Tom William answers:

Acne is a bundle of skin rashes formed over skin due to the action of hormones on the sebaceous glands. You can get rid of these acne from any of the natural acne remedies listed on the below site. Check it out for yourself as it worked for all that i personally know. The site address is beauticianworld.com

Chris asks…

Isotretinoin acne treatment question?

okay i just got home from the dermatoligist like 5 hours ago, and he gave me an antibiotic for acne and cream and other stuff. he told me that if my acne didn’t clear up, he would put me on something called Isotretinoin. he said it has ALOT of side effects and he had to legally give me an ipledge pamphlet about the side effects before i even considered doing it. i flipped through the IPLEDGE book, and common side effects were severe depression, psychosis, jondice, strokes, seizures, chrons disease, permanent thin skin, permanent hair thinning,Erectile dysfunction, etc. etc etc…..

i need to know before i consider taking this, has anyone here taken it? what are the side effects? did you get any? amy i freaking out over nothing? how much does it cost? if you have any of these answers please help thank you soooo much.

Tom William answers:

Here are some reviews from the users…

They have listed the Pros, Cons, and additional information including how much they have paid for it.

Thomas asks…

help me desperate severe acne 15 year old?

hi..im 15 years old boy, i had acne for 4 years
my whole face except my eyes is covered with it and pus, scars n other crap all over it.
i seen a dermatoligist and took roaccutane for 1 year, my condition improved but then after i stopped takin it the pimples came out like it did before.
i am very desperate to rid of it..because my self confidence and esteem is all lost..when i walk i even put my head down and i down even tho i got a girlfren i dont go out wif her because of my face..sometimes i feel like theirs no point of life
i do all kinds of stuff and altogether spent approx $1000 on treatment but none seems to work.
currently i use benazac benzoyl peroxide wash, tea tree oil gel, merderma scar cream, wash my face 3 times a day, drink more than 10 litres of water a day and other remedies.
as u see i am desperate!! i will do anything to get rid of it..

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO STOP MY ACNE??

Tom William answers:

I’ve had several patients tell me that Proactive worked for them, too.

There are daily antibiotic pills you can try, but you would need a doctor’s prescription. (Frankly, I’d try the Proactive first.) Tretinoin is a similar medicine to Accutane, but since it is a cream or gel, it doesn’t have as many side effects. It is kind of expensive (prescription), and I think that Accutane works better for most people, but it may be worth looking into.

I don’t think that the water will help much, frankly, and you can actually drink too much and mess up your body’s electrolytes.

Has the tea tree oil helped? It is supposed to have some good antibacterial properties, but that could be offset by the “oiliness” of it, and I could see it making things worse. You may want to try stopping that, too.

Don’t give up! We are using lasers now that can remove acne scars and leave the skin looking beautiful, and the lasers are getting better every year, so don’t assume they are permanent.

You have a girlfriend; many guys don’t, so you can’t be that bad, eh?

Charles asks…

epiduo acne treatment is giving me scary side effects, what should i do?

I’ve been on epiduo for about two weeks now (my doc also prescribed minocycline and i’ve been experiencing some pretty bad side effects. First of all I noticed I started to have breathing trouble. I couldn’t inhale deep breathes and my throat felt swollen. Second, the lymph nodes at the base of my head are completely swollen. I’m currently experiencing an itchy weird rash randomly across my body and my lower lip is swollen. A few days ago I had flu-like symptoms but that only lasted about 24 hours. I’ve read all the possible side effects and they all seem to fit my situation, but I don’t know if it’s severe enough to go to my doctor. I don’t really have time to go to the doctor anyway, but i’m starting to get concerned. But the thing is, epiduo is working really well against my acne so i don’t want to stop using it. :( help?

Tom William answers:

The decision is up to you. If you believe that the acne treatment outweighs to side effects, then by all means continue to use it.
However, I’d advise you to see your doctor and/or stop using epiduo.

John asks…

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO STOP MY ACNE??

Tom William answers:

You may require a 2nd course of Accutane. I went on it four times myself, although the maximum number of times is usually three. There is a lifetime limit to the amount of Accutane to which you should be exposed, but your case definitely sounds like you need a 2nd course of the therapy with Accutane, without a doubt. Needing a 2nd course of Accutane is very common with patients who have severe acne.

You may currently be washing your face too much — unless it is exceptionally oily. Continue on the Mederma to prevent scarring, and also ask your dermatologist for a recommendation or a prescription for a product containing sunscreen and prescription-strength hydroquinone — this will reduce the redness and irritation from old acne. In the meantime, go to the drugstore and buy some antiobiotic cream with lidocaine (not ointment) to add to your regimen — the lidocaine will help your face feel better. The antibiotic cream will help reduce inflammation and infection and also help prevent additional scarring. You can also buy some hydrogen peroxide and use it as a toner before applying the other topical treatments; it has antibacterial properties and is non-irritating to the skin.

There is hope: there are many treatments out there now which you have not yet tried: Tazorac gel, Nicomide-T (which can be used in addition to other treatments to reduce irritation/redness), Differin, Benzomycin, Plexion cleanser, Retina-Micro, Sulfacet-R … The list of possibilities is exhaustive. Go back to that doctor who put you on the Accutane and get more or find another who will work with you. Don’t give up — it can get better — and it will with persistence. Life will improve once you get it under control; it just sometimes takes more than one treatment to get it right.

Jenny asks…

How do I get rid of my new and old acne scars?

I have skin thats kind of like a multi- racial person, I have tried everything from AcneCure to ProActiv. Its almost my junior year in high school and I need to really do something about it before the prom and yearbook pictures.

Tom William answers:

I know how you feel. I used to buy products like ProActiv thinking it would help, it turns out I have sensitive skin….you should try purity made simple by philosophy. It is GREAT! It is just a one-step cleanser. To mosturize try their Hope in a Jar. Both are very gentle, but cleared up my skin, that other stuff was too harsh any only made my acne worse.
Hope you find something that works for you!!

George asks…

Removal of mild acne scars between eyebrows? (picture inside)?

I have some red, dotted, blotchy looking acne scars in between my eyebrows that I am desperate to get rid of. Between my eyebrows is the only place I seem to get pimples and over the years scars have accumulated. I was hoping there is some natural remedy to get rid of them. I’ve heard of Neosporin, Vitamin B, and Retin-A but have yet to try them. Tell me what your thoughts are on the remedies mentioned and hopefully you can give me some new solutions. Thanks!

Here is the picture of my scars. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/ka3lee/ka3lees%20second%20album/Photoon2011-01-21at2332.jpg

Tom William answers:

Silicone gel sheets, honey, drinking plenty of water work the best

Others remedies include:

Moisturizing the skin
Paraffin wax
Massaging the scar
Mederma
Scar gel
Bio Oil
Olay Regenerist
Cocoa Butter Lotion
Vitaminn E
Aloe Vera
Lime Juice
Cucumber butter
Onion extract

David asks…

What can i do to get rid of my acne scars?

Could you also tell me how i could get rid of this big pimple on my forehead? School pictures are coming up in about two weeks..

Tom William answers:

Ugh, i hate big pimples. First, wet a washcloth in water as hot as you can get it. That will bring the infection to the surface. Do that for a day or so, then scrubbing it will get that stuff cleaned out. To get rid of the scars, try a product with Retinol A that is supposed to help “heal” scar tissues.

Ruth asks…

Which cover-up (make-up) is the best for covering acne and acne scars?

I have to take very important pictures on Monday, that will go into the Yearbook.

Thanks

Tom William answers:

There are a lot of concealers/foundation, but if you want good quality ones, go to Sephora or a department store and have someone help you match your color. You even try it on. This will look better than if you go to a drugstore and buy a color that you think looks good. They’ll also give you tips on how to achieve the best look!

If you can’t do that, then try Physician’s Formula, which can be found at any drugstore.

They aren’t a bad brand, and actually have specific products for covering up blemishes.

Donna asks…

Acne scars? How to cover them up with concealer?

I read somewhere that if you dab a little bit of water with your concealer/cover up you can cover your acne scars. True? False?

How would I cover up acne scars smilar to the picture below with make up?

http://www.noixia.com/media/images/site/acne_scar_before_l_wk8.gif

Thanks!
Peace and Love

Tom William answers:

I have a few acne marks/scars as well and when i wear makeup you would never guessed it. Use a makeup primer, foundation all over the face so you don’t look blotchy ( use foundation brush not a sponge ), next get a good concealer and touch up where you might still need it and then finally use a powder to help set the foundation in and voila done!

My routine:
Lancome LA Base Primer
Channel Mat Lumiere in Cendre’
Clinique Airbrush Concealer Illuminates, Perfects
Clinique Perfectly Real Compact Makeup

Ken asks…

How old do I look like in these pictures? Do I need more makeup? Should I get my acne scars lasered?

And can you rate my looks? Youre a stranger, so please be honest. No need for being polite. I just need the truth.

http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy253/msairs/me1.jpg

http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy253/msairs/me3.jpg

Tom William answers:

No offense, but you look about 35 in the pics I saw.

One thing that I think would help is if you got your teeth whitened. You have a nice smile. Whitening your teeth a bit would help it sparkle.

Your hair looks fine, but you might try another style that emphasizes your cheekbones more. I’m not an expert, but most hair salons should have good suggestions for you to consider.

I don’t see scars, but a nice matte finish face powder in your proper shade would smooth over any imperfections. You might also look into airbrush make up. I’ve heard it’s really great at covering blemishes.

I don’t know about laser treatments. I don’t know what they do or if it would be worth your time. There are some very good facial creams out there that might help rejuvenate your skin enough for you to be happy. If nothing else, try Vitamin E oil or Olive Oil. A thin layer every day helps your skin a lot. I have eczema and those items help me manage it better than lotions.

Exercise can help give you a healthy glow that will brighten your features and eating really healthy can make you feel good too. You look like you’re skinny, but these things can still help you look better overall.

Anyway, you’re pretty, but a little update in your look can do wonders for your confidence and self esteem and help make you look and feel years younger.

Good luck. :)

Paul asks…

how can i get rid of acne scars? please help?

ok its my senior year of high school. i dont really think much of my acne untill we start taking pictures and stuff. i dont really get pimples much just i have like dark spots and stuff from were there used to be and they are fading but real slow how can i get my face clear.

thanks for the help :D

Tom William answers:

Treating Acne Scars
After an acne lesion has healed it can leave a red or brownish mark on your face. This is technically not a scar, it is called post inflammatory hyper pigmentation (PIH). PIH will usually fade on its own within a few months. But any skin discoloration still present after one year is considered to be a scar.

Encouraging PIH to fade more quickly can be accomplished with certain natural remedies. As well as with the use of commercial products formulated specifically for this purpose. Lets take a look at some of the natural treatments readily available at your local grocery or wholistic market.

Rose hip oil: The Retinol found naturally in Rose hip oil assists with cell regeneration, and promotes an increase of collagen and elastin levels.

Rose hip oil is high in Both Omega 3 and Omega 6 Essential Fatty Acids which are known to reduce the size of the pores.

Look for Rose hip oil with added vitamin E oil which will add to its beneficial effects to your skin and increase the Rose hips shelf life.

Baking Soda: Exfoliate your skin with baking soda. You can give yourself a mini microdermabrasion treatment by mixing one teaspoon of baking soda with two teaspoons of filtered water. Rub the mixture gently on to acne scars for about one minute then rinse it off with cool water.

Honey and Pearl Powder: Blend these two natural ingredients in equal quantities to make a home treatment for acne as well as acne scars and PIH. Apply the formula directly to affected areas once a week. Allow the treatment to sit for fifteen minutes then wash it off with warm soapy water.

The action of the enzyme glucose oxidase, found in Honey produces hydrogen peroxide, a known anti-bacterial with skin lightening properties.

Pearl powder contains potent amino acids, which are the building blocks of every living organism. Pearl powder also slows the development of melanin which controls the color pigments of the skin.

When mixed these two natural substances become a powerful remedy for scaring and other pigmentation issues.

Measure success by improvement not perfection. While some results may be seen right away do not be discouraged if complete fading isn’t accomplished immediately. The fact is that once skin is damaged complete reversal of the condition may not be possible. But improvement is!

Linda asks…

How can I hide my acne scars (BIG PITS/HOLES) just for one day?

Just for one day… I need to make it look like I don’t have any holes in my face.

I’m going to help my photographer friend with his portfolio, but I would at least like to look nice in my pictures!
Any ideas?

Tom William answers:

Use a primer! It does wonders! A primer is what creates a barrier between your face and your makeup. A silica based primer is going to sit on your skin and fill in any fine lines or big pores or dry patches or your holes, even out skin tone, help your makeup stay on longer and absorb oil. It gives you a smooth pallet for foundation application. They allow foundation to “stay put” in hot weather. It helps prevent skin from absorbing talc and pigment from your foundation as well as preventing talc from drawing oil from the skin. Most contain botanicals such as lavender, orange, jasmine, rose, geranium, grape, kiwi and aloe extracts to soothe and refresh the skin.

Your Questions About Good Eating Habits For Kids

Nancy asks…

What can I do about my dads eating habits?

I’m 21 and my father is 52. Over the past, oh, 5 years or so I’ve become aware of the dangers of eating certain foods in excess or at all. Now, I’m not on some health food kick, or here to criticize others for their own bad eating habits. I just want to know what to do to help my dad. When I bring it up, he gets all pissed off and tells me to drop it. Yet, he’s always saying how he wants to get back into shape and eat better. My grandfather died of diabetes a couple of years ago, he was 75. I want my dad to be around for my first kid, at least. But, if he keeps up this poor diet I’m afraid he won’t be. I might be coming off a little abrupt to him, but it’s only because I’m worried… Any ADVICE would be appreciated, so leave your smart-ass comments elsewhere.

Tom William answers:

Tell him that you want him to be around and you don’t want to loose him. And for his birthday get him a personal trainer gift certificate or a gym membership.

Carol asks…

fit and healthy?

Hi i at the age that i care more about my physical appearenc. Any good tips on how to get a 6 pack and get better eating habits for a kid.

Tom William answers:

Check out mypyramid.gov for things to eat

cut back/out on sodas, candy, etc (you know it’s bad, don’t eat it)

exercise at the gym, play with your friends outside, run around (ie, don’t play video games and sit there for hours on end, MOVE)

ask your parents to help you stay healthy by making good meals and buying better foods

get your friends involved, make it a competition and the winner gets a cool prize (this helps keep it fun and gives you all support)

Jenny asks…

Good weekend meal ideas for kids?

My husband’s 2 kids stay with us on the weekends…10 yrs and 13 yrs. They have terrible eating habits at their moms house..a lot of boxed meals, lunch meat (sandwiches for dinner) fast food (and the 13 year old says he’ll just have chips sometimes!!) Anyway, I need some healthy dinner ideas the kids will enjoy.

Their favorite meal right now is chicken cordon bleu.
What do your kids enjoy that is not too expensive to make (no more than $25 for 2 adults/2 kids)

Tom William answers:

I make a lot of recipes for my family using this websites recipes. All has been really good and easy for kds to eat. Sometimes I substitute lean ground turkey or chick for some of the beef recipes, but in the end, it all tastes good. My girlfriend has a picky stepson, similar to what you explained, and I turned her on to this website and she said she is amazed at how her stepson eats now. I’d recommend that you try first with the cheeseburger pie and the taco macaroni. The mini meatloaf muffins are a hit with kids too.

Richard asks…

Do you think God wants us to be fit?

Come on, your body is a temple, isn’t it? If I was God I’d rather see people take their kids for soccer rather than to church. Staying fit requires discipline, hard work good eating habits. I think Jesus would approve of all those qualities. I guess my question is, how come in the US a relatively religious country everyone is fat and in Sweden crawling with atheists folks are skinny?

Tom William answers:

We have to many fast food places and people are lazy. Nothing wrong with playing soccer but you can go to church also. It’s not like you can only do one or the other. God Bless

Joseph asks…

Could I become a personal trainer?

Ok, so I am a 17 year old female. I really am interested in becoming a personal trainer (not when I am older but now) for like younger kids (10-15 years old) I see these kids that have weight problems, and I know how they feel because I used to be obese. Now, I am in really good shape, I currently am training for a marathon, I cycle, I go to the gym 6 days a week, I am a vegetarian and have good eating habits. I feel like these younger kids are intimidated to go to the gym because they don’t want to be embarrassed or they don’t know how to work out correctly and sometimes adults can be intimidating to work with, and I think if someone younger was helping them it would make the experience better. would your take your kid to a 17 year old trainer? How could I get started in this?Whats your opinion?

I am currently a gymnastics coach so I already have a lot of experience working with kids of all ages.

Tom William answers:

There are no legal restrictions on becoming a personal coach. Just stay away from giving medical advice since you could make yourself vulnerable to lawsuit should someone develop a medical problem that they attribute to your advice. Make sure you do your homework and live the talk.

I’d learn about healthy vegan diets as recommended by Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. John McDougall, Dr. T. Collin Campbell, Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, and many other highly qualified nutrition and health researchers.

Make sure you understand the principles behind aerobic exercise. Learn about free weight training if you don’t already have this expertise. You might start by offering free classes to elementary school age kids. There’s nothing in your way except yourself. You should also consider coaching people who have heart conditions. Heart disease can be reversed and prevented. Make sure that your clients stay in touch with their physicians because after changing their lifestyles, they will need less drugs, and the drugs can become toxic to someone who is no longer needs a higher dose.

Make sure to tell things from your own experience. It sounds like you have a wonderful story to tell.

Sandy asks…

Do I have an eating disorder.?

My close friend who I make a habit of confiding in, says she is worried for me, because she thinks I have disorder eating. But I think she may just be projecting because she has serious issues with food. But then agin I also do odd stuff to skew others perception of how much I eat, like buy food from the cafeteria when my friends are in it, but then through it away in an empty hall. Because some of my friends bug me about being to thin or not eating enough, and it’s just annoying. Their is no such thing as to thin. But this scares m because the only person to I’m really honest to thinks that I have major issues. And I don’t have anyone else to ask for a second opinion, because that would mean, a lot of unsavory back story. Well that’s why I’m asking this question. Some information about my eating habits are, I don’t like breakfast or lunch, so I don’t eat them. I eat dinner, everyday because my mom maintains that we have our dinner together, how ever unpleasant that may be, we yell and fight, or bicker, or nitpick at each other, or stew in award silence, only occasionally breaking it to snapping at each other. And when I say things like we yell I mean my mom yells, and so on. But she has a very stressful life, and we should be better kids for her. But were not, so she yells. I’ve always had body issues, but most girls in this day and age do.

But I think I developed a disgust for food when I was a vegetarian, something I am now for the record not allowed to be until i’m 18. My mom got a pizza and it had meat o it, so I started to pick it off the meat. This very much enraged my mother, who ripped and waddended up the pice in the mist of explaining to me how she had spent good money that she worked hard for on that pizza that i was eating so ruddily, and ungratefully. And then made me eat the shredded remains of the slice, with the threat hanging over my head that if I didn’t eat it, enjoy it and thank her I could very well find some were else to live. The pizza didn’t taste like nourishment it tasted like shame. Shame that my life was not my own, that not even my shame mattered I was though of so lowly, that I’m just the fulfillment of some sick ’50s happy family idea that when side ways, not a human being. It sounds minor but it’s just one of those traumatizing for no good reason things you remember.

And then emotion got probably got entangled with food with my papa, when we got to see him agin. His medication makes him fixated on food, espeshally when he first started taking it. And trying to reconnect with my papa for a while their was all food, food, food, even now I eat all the time with him, but it’s almost like I don’t like eating with out him, because it makes me miss him. Like running with out him, I hate p.e., I get teary sometimes when we run the mile. It’s really bad that i’ve stopped running, while we were running one time when I was young my papa was, you know being a good dad and telling me that I was the perfect weight. And you know I thought I was fat and he said, oh your not, trust me, I wouldn’t let you get fat if you started to get fat I’ld have you out one the track so fast funning it off….he didn’t like fat people. But I haven’t seriously ran for years now.

So yes, I have major issues with food, that becomes very evident in writhing all this down, but I don’t have an eating disorder, I can eat, so I’m not anorexic. And I don’t purge, so I’m don’t have bulimia, and my doctor says I’m under weight so I’m not a compulsive eater. well the last one would work the best for me probably, because it’s very unpleasant and sometimes involuntary continuing to eat once I’ve started, i don’t mean like binges or anything, just like finishing a serving that was to big, or going for seconds, and some times thirds. so lots of times I just don’t start eating, because it’s easier than stopping, but it’s not because I have an eating disorder do you think? If I did I would be skinny, I would settle for thin, or just not flabby, that’s me in a nutshell. I hate being flabby, but that doesn’t mean i have an eating disorder like my friend said, right?

Tom William answers:

Honestly, I would have to say that you are trying to convince yourself that you don’t have an eating disorder. If you are hiding the fact that you aren’t eating from your friends, and you are skipping two whole meals a day, that is a bad sign. The fact that you are underweight confirms it, as does the occasional binges you described. You may not quite be anorexic, although contrary to popular opinion, anorectics do in fact eat– they even sometimes binge– they just severely restrict themselves, as you do throughout the day by not eating lunch or breakfast.

I am not a doctor, so of course I can’t diagnose this. However, I do recommend that you find a psychologist/counselor to discuss it with.

John asks…

How to help my younger brother loose weight….?

Alright so i’m 15 and my little brother is 9. He is almost considered obese right now. He’s only really “big” in the stomach. He’s also tall though. But I *need* to help him loose weight. He would be so much better off. The thing is …it’s not the easiest. Especially not for him. I don’t know if he is diagnosed with something but like he can’t run..like physically can’t do it. He just can’t get his knees up. and his arms..when the move they go in.
but heres the weird thing. My other brother (the middle child) and i are both really skinny..and really athletic. and he’s way different. there are many reasons that could lead to this and i think it was when we were younger. see its a hard story to explain and im trying to stay on task.
when i was younger..my mom would sleep *all day* no joke. she was impossible to wake up..and of course…my dad worked. well there would be days when my aunt would come over..pick us up..leave a note on the counter and after we did whatever for the day..she’d take us back home to see my mom still sleeping on the couch and the letter untouched. if there would have been a fire..she would have *NEVER* made it out. but i was old enough i could take care of myself and handle everything. then patrick was born. (we’re only 3 years apart) and i took care of him the best i could. then there was michael. and i took care of both of them…that is …until patrick and i started full days of school…then whenever michael was hungry…and my mom couldnt get up..he would grab what he wanted.
to sum it up. michael is different from us two. he has a really hard time physically and it almost makes me cry. as for my mom..she got out of her sleeping thing and has been better now for several years.
i started doing “work-outs” with michael and today was the first day. he did really well..but he has a very hard time trying to do push ups..like he doesnt have his body the right way. and when he runs…his arms are tucked in and like..idk how to explain it..it isnt right though. and when he does sit ups…and other stuff. im doing all i can.
i try to help him watch what he eats and how much too. like sometimes he’ll eat as much as my dad. and thats not good at all…trust me on that…but when hes hungry..he eats fast and he always wants more. so i told him eat slower. and when you want more. wait.
well michael is a very good little kid. he does amazing things for his age. Examples: When youre sick..hes right there getting you everything..asking you if you need anything. b) He always listens (most of the time..there are days where he has his moments but hey..hes only 9.) he has the biggest heart in the world
but the problem isn’t him listening..its my mom…shes a B*tch. and she litterally yells at me for telling him that. and says i need to mind my own business and im wrong and he can eat and hes fine..and hes not…
i couldn’t actually say “michael you need to loose weight”
one day when he came home from school i said “hey michael i need a work out buddy. you up for it??” and it worked and he’s actually really happy that his sister is working out with him. he loves it right now..but its only been one day.
so what im getting at is…
-What kind of excercising should i be doing with him?
-How long should I do them for?
-What are some better eating habits?
-Can I change his bad habits and fix them so he is able to be more physically fit?
-How hard do i push him?
-How many calories should he be taking in?
-Anything else you feel you need to add or tell me…feel free.
i need all the help i can get right now. it will be better to change him now then when hes older. and when i say change i mean like..help him be…fit.
i hope you were able to understand everything and any advice would be great.

Tom William answers:

Whoa, relax

Lizzie asks…

child acting up..?

My 6yr old doesnt eat very well..we have battles over dinner..he doesnt like very many meat items. How can i get him to eat better. He cant eat raw carrots, green beans, corn dogs all his life.help. He has a bologna sandwich just about every day for lunch. or pbj. no cooked veggies. only mashed potatoes.pizza. He eats more when other kids are around that have better eating habits. Hes gone to bed without supper…sat at the table untill bed time nothing works..

Tom William answers:

You can’t force a child to eat. Get in a battle with food and the kid will win. Peanut butter is loaded with protein so don’t force the other meats down him. Put a little on his plate of everything and if he refuses to eat something thats fine. Don’t make special meals but don’t tell him he has to eat. He will not starve to death and once he doesn’t feel you pressuring him he will start trying other foods. Kids tastes change all the time.

Your Questions About Treatment Water

Sandra asks…

what is drainage water treatment in Agriculture?

What does it mean when talking about draining water treatment in agriculture? I can’t put a visual concept to this. can someone please explain, in very simple words, what it means when talking about such things as Integrated on-Farm Drainage Management or the whole concept of water drainage management system of subsurface water?

Tom William answers:

When talking about subsurface drainage it usually refers to lowering the water table in areas where rising water table brings salinity problems. You can either plant lots of trees to use up the excess water or dig deep drainage ditches to lower the water table. When talking about catching and treating surface run off water this refers to run off from Feed lots, animal pens / sheds, Silage heaps etc. This water is best disposed of through either evaporation ponds or special built wetlands where the nutrient load is removed by plants.

James asks…

Do you know any experienced water treatment consultant ?

I need to know any experienced water treatment consultant who can help me cleaning my factory’s Cooling tower.

Helen asks…

Waste water treatment?Do the dirty water goes through a treatment and after that to underground?

The water which is produced as a waste is first gone through waste water treatment and then into underground which is then called groundwater.Am I correct??

Tom William answers:

Waste water usually goes into a river. It used to go into rivers untreated, and in the 1960′s there was not much recreational boating and fishing on parts of major American rivers because they stunk so bad. So the EPA was created and mandated waste water treatment facilities. I’m not exactly sure what happens to the 10 tons of poop that arrive daily???

Ruth asks…

What are the possibility of HAZARD in Operating and cleaning of water treatment plant?

What are the possibility of HAZARD in Operating and cleaning of water treatment plant?

Tom William answers:

Falls on floors made wet and slippery during the handling of water.

Injuries caused by capture of work-clothes and/or various parts of body, in/between moving/ rotating unprotected parts of machinery

Electric shock caused by contact with “live” wires or defective electrical installations

Exposure to hazardous substances

Fire hazard due to contact of a very strong oxidizer (disinfectant) with a flammable substance, as a result of improper storage of chemicals, human error, sudden release from process piping, etc.

Hazard of drowning when working inside reservoirs

Exposure to various disinfectants used for water disinfection, like chlorine (gas): a very strong oxidizer and disinfectant.

Hydrofluoric acid: a very strong acid that is used in water fluoridation

Sodium hypochlorite: it is used as a solution. The substance is toxic and corrosive, in particular of the respiratory tract; causes burns and irritation to eyes and skin

Calcium hypochlorite: the substance is corrosive and very destructive of mucous tissues; may cause chemical pneumonia and lung oedema

Ozone is an oxidizing and an irritatant gas

Exposure to coagulants (such as aluminum sulfate): these substances assist precipitation of suspended matter in the water

Donna asks…

What does Polyelctrolyte do in water treatment?

What is polyelctrolyte added for in the chemical treatment of drinking water?

Tom William answers:

Poly-electrolyte is a compound of very large molecules that have many points on the molecule that have a bonding point for a ion.
It is like the resin in a water softener.
It has a harmless ion like sodium or potassium which it releases and bonds to other ions like Magnesium that can cause diarrhea.
If it is added separately to the water, it can be filtered out with the magnesium attached.

George asks…

what are the toughest challenges for waste water treatment?

my son is doing a research on waste water treatment, and what are the biggest challenges to overcome in the next few years.

Tom William answers:

There are both environmental and human health challenges to this issue. Sadly, a common way to “treat” waste water is to dump it into the ocean, in which case you have engineering concerns with effluent flow, managing microbe blooms, oxygen depletion, and toxics from cleaning chemicals and drugs flushed down the toilet.

Aside from this type of lazy “treatment,” the standard today is harsh chemical treatments that serve to kill much of what is in the water, but obviously introduces those chemicals into the environment post-treatment.

There are new approaches which are showing real potential without the negative environmental impacts. In particular, bioremediation can be used to breakdown toxics and heavy metals in contaminated water, while simulatenously dealing with microbes which are dangerous to human health. There are already a number of facilities in operation around the world, but there are a lot of political battles to win because the technology can replace more harmful methods on the large scale. The link below will connect you to one of the companies that is doing this.

Ken asks…

What is the function of Chlorine gas in water treatment. Is there any other Chemical cheaper then Chlorine gas?

My question relates to potable water treatment for municipal use.

Tom William answers:

It is a biocide – kills bacteria etc – and it oxidizes some tiny particle too small to be filtered and flocculated (google this rude word)

depending upon local electricity costs UV light can do the same thing as efficiently

Robert asks…

Are “recycled” composted solid wastes from a water treatment facility safe to use for growing food crops?

My local water treatment facility composts the solid wastes and sells it. I was wondering if the composting made the materials safe to use for food crops. I’d heard E Coli is a potential problem with use of human waste products.

Tom William answers:

The fertilizer is heated so nearly all the bacteria are killed.

Mary asks…

How to design/construct a Decentralized Waste Water Treatment – DEWATS?

please help me get technical info on how to design a DEWATS – Decentralized Waste Water Treatment. (http://www.borda-net.org/modules/cjaycontent/index.php?id=29) <—info on dewats

i need to know how to come up with the size of the treatment chambers depending on the amount of sewage flow.

any website or article or case study will help, thank you!

Tom William answers:

Start by looking at the fact sheets at the reference and search the site. There are several major publications USEPA has produced. It is much moe complicated than just a formula that depends on flow. It involved influent concentrations, permit limits, are restrictions, and the big one, $$$$$$$.

Sharon asks…

What is the German word for the radiator of a car? (Please don’t use Google Translate)?

As in the big radiator at the front of the car, which cools the engine.

Please don’t use google translate or some other online translation programme.

Thanks.

Tom William answers:

Yes, it’s ‘Kühler’, if you pronounce it in English you basically have the meaning.
For once Google Translator is correct too lol.

Mark asks…

How do you say “bird” and “bear” in French (please don’t tell me to use Google Translate)?

I tried using Google Translate already, but I’m unsure of how to say “bird” and “bear”. Please tell me :D

Tom William answers:

Bird is “oiseau” – pronounced: “wah-zoh”

“Bear” is “ours” – pronounced “oors” (be sure to make the “oo” sound like in “school”, even though it is before an r)

Robert asks…

Google translate not working for my site?

My site is not getting translated through google translate?
when i tried to translate any page in my site by google language tranlation, it only show the image used in top panel of the site and nothing else. though it got translated by babel fish tranlation completely.
what could be the problem? or what should i do to translate through google?

Tom William answers:

I am not sure how you are calling the translate URL of google.

The typical URl is http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&langpair=en%7Cfr&u=URLString

May be if you could briefly explain how you have implemented, I could give more ideas.

What program helps you learn a new different language? (Not google translate please)?

What program helps you learn a new different language? (Not google translate please)

Tom William answers:

Rosetta Stone sucks ass. All you do is click the picture that best describes what is going on in the text you are given. Nothing is in English, nothing is explained so all you do is guess. It literally doesn’t teach you anything other than new words and even then it doesn’t teach you how to use them.

I use Tell Me More. It’s a cut above Rosetta Stone, but it’s not super amazing, so I simply torrented it.

Mandy asks…

is it a good idea to run my spanish essay thorugh google translate to find mistakes?

i know your not supposed to use google translate for languages because its notvery accurate but i planned to go through my text and see if it made snes when translated

Tom William answers:

I use google translator for certain words or phrases but it is a problem when you write a sentence with your own special meaning, because alter words and sometimes not well understood but if you know enough of the language you can fix your own

a good idea to avoid using these translators is to watch videos where the language is spoken and not try to translate it but try to understand

James asks…

Why aren’t there videos with the Google Translate voice on YouTube?

This is a funny question to ask but Google Translate has a voice that reads out loud what you have translated. So I could type in any text and make it say anything I want. I expected there to be tons of videos on YouTube with funny things people make the voice say but I don’t see any. I’m pretty shocked. Why would this be?

Tom William answers:

Maybe some people have never heard of it? I have several friends who’ve never heard of it but then again they’re not on YT and theres probably billions of vids on Youtube so you’d suppose that one person would have one vid up wouldn’t you?

Richard asks…

Thanks.

Tom William answers:

Radiator of car means :–> CHŁODNICA SAMOCHODOWA :) <–in polish
its a piece of equipment that is used for keeping an engine cool

Your Questions About Google Translate

Mark asks…

Why do people always say to use Google Translate?

I always see people here telling people to use Google Translate. Why? Google Translate (and all other web translators) SUCK, and you have pretty much a 0% chance of getting an accurate translation. People are posting here because they want a *person* to translate, not some machine that doesn’t understand context.

Tom William answers:

Google Translate is recommended because it’s probably the most used translator. Unfortunately, translators do not understand context and are therefore very unreliable. It’s not as easy to cheat on your Spanish paper as it looks.

Laura asks…

Where can I find how to translate hiligaynon online like google translate-but that only translate Tagalog?

I need something just like the google translate that will translate English to Hiligaynon & Hiligaynon to Englsih–words, paragraphs, everything.

Tom William answers:

You should visit this link: http://www.bansa.org/dictionaries/hil/
It’s a dictionary for hiligaynon. The Web site also offers dictionaries of other Philippine languages. If you have some ability with the language, you’re better off writing the words and paragraphs on your own with the dictionary for references. Google translate is terrible at translating phrases! It’s great for single words, but it tries to translate it too directly and doesn’t understand concepts of grammar.

John asks…

Is it possible to get bangla in google translate service?

Anybody can help me?It is very important for me as a bangladeshi.

Tom William answers:

I am not sure. Even in Google Language Tools where like 100 languages are listed, Bangla is not there.

But you can participate in volunteer translation, however, when i check the list of languages, Bangla is also not listed.

Charles asks…

How do I use google translate as a toolbar?

I used to have a toolbar that translated German websites I went on into English so I could understand them. I’m pretty sure it was a google thing. It seems to have disappeared and now I have to copy and past the content of website into a translator thing to understand it. How can I get the toolbar back?

I’m using internet explorer if that makes a difference.

Tom William answers:

You may need to just turn the translate option back on. Go to view-> toolbars and turn on the Google toolbar. If this doesn’t work you can left click above the address bar to the right. Click somewhere where you don’t open another program. If done correctly you’ll get a dialogue box with options. Select “customize” at the bottom of the list and then click “add remove commands”.

Finally if none of this works consider reinstalling the toolbar. The URL is below.

Linda asks…

Why does Latin come up strange in Google Translate?

When you type something into google translate to change to Latin, it always comes up as a little picture of the words cut into a stone. Why?

Tom William answers:

To show that you should not take the result seriously, I suppose ;-)
Machine translators CAN NOT translate to or from Latin (or German, or Russian). The complicated syntax and the many different forms and meanings of the same word are too much for such a relatively simple machine. Humans have problems at times!

William asks…

Why Google does not translate Bengali language?

Google translate everything for 3 million people (Macedonian language) and language that no one speak (Latin) but they can not translate for Bengali (language of 230 million people, 6th most spoken language in the world). Google is kicking us in our rear end and saying you guys are not humans, so do not count.

Tom William answers:

People, normal people donate translations to google. I guess no-one felt like donating some bengali, or he did, but to little. It has to be at least a thousand words for google to make another language for translation. And you are wrong about latin. It’s the root of all languages (except greek) and it’s used for professional terms.

Mandy asks…

Is it legal to have a link to Google translate page from my web-site?Do I have to get a permission fromGoogle?

Is it legal to have a link to Google translate page from my web-site? Should the person or the small corporation get a permission from Google? If so, how much does it cost?

Tom William answers:

No problem , i think it is legal, go ahead , if it is really necessary , then you can do it .

Michael asks…

How do you say “You are more beautiful than the sunset” in Italian? I don’t trust Google Translate.?

When i type the sentence into google tanslate, it gives me “sei più bello del tramonto”. But when i enter that back into google translate, it translates it back to english as “six of the most beautiful sunset”. So what would be correct?

Tom William answers:

Sei più bella(female) del tramonto
Sei più bello(male) del tramonto

Google translate says “six”(the number) because “you are” and “six” in italian are written in the same mode

six= the number, in italian is “sei”
you are=verb to be in italian is “tu sei” or “sei”

sorry for my english i’m italian
i hope you understand

Your Questions About Google Earth

Susan asks…

How often does Google Earth update their pictures, and why are the graphics still just as bad?

I got Google Earth years ago, and then I recently got 5.0, but they are like exactly the same. Why does Google Earth even make new ones if they aren’t going to update the pictures or make so you can zoom in closer?

Tom William answers:

Hey, hey, don’t be so hard on them!
Google is one of the biggest search engines worldwide, and they have just launched their own internet browsing service, Google Chrome. And, also having Gmail and iGoogle, they seem like very busy people, and with hungry computers awaiting to feed in the updation software to all of you. Yet you want to complain??! Well, I`m sorry, but that is very un-grateful.
Updating a software, (in this case, Google Earth) is not as easy as you may think it is, you don’t suddenly notice all of the changes, and it does give you a full view of the earth, lets you search it, see your home/others houses complete with all of your garden items, such as a pond/shed. Often, updating something makes it faster, smoother to run, and easier to understand. Only when the company feel they have all this on their previous version, will they start working on how it looks, and extra features.
What I’m saying is, with Google worrying about updating their internet, browser, iGoogle, Gmail, etc., they don’t have a lot of time on their hands to meet your requirements straight away.
I think Google Earth is pretty clever and neat, so what if it isn’t perfect graphics? Do you really need those to find a location?
Google Earth was not designed for people to locate a house or school, hotel, anything they like, and compare the distances.
It is NOT meant to have 100% perfect graphics, you can see perfectly from the maximum zooming in tool, and spin around. If you don’t appreciate it, try finding a Yahoo! Version of it.

Oh, wait.
There isn’t one.
It is Google’s special feature, please appreciate that.

Laura asks…

How does google earth have photos from space from the 40s?

In google earth 5.0 you can see areas in the 40s but how did they get those images if the first satellite didn’t launch until 1957 and the first time a satellite to took photos of earth, from space, was in 1959.

Tom William answers:

Many of the Historical photos are actually Aerial Photos and not Satellite images. You are correct in your questioning how they could have been satellite images from before satellites took photos from space.

Michael asks…

What are your favorite places to view on google earth?

What are your favorite places to view on google earth? I like to look at ships at naval bases, and I’ve seen Niagra Falls and the Himalya Mnts. If you have exact addresses to anything that is even fairly unknown that is cool. I just want some neat stuff to check out. If you are into astronomy, as I am, you can also mention something in the “sky” portion of Google Earth.

Tom William answers:

I’ve checked out the Great Wall of China, Paris, the Vatican, the Colosseum in Rome, the pyramids in Egypt, Boston MA (my hometown) the Golden Gate bridge in SF, the Hollywood sign, the Big Island of Hawaii, Easter Island and the Grand Canyon. FUN stuff that Google Earth!

David asks…

How often does Google Earth update it’s photographs of the globe?

I’ve noticed that photos of the same locations change over time but since I hardly use Google, and only use Google Earth periodically, I’m curious as to how often the photos are updated: Is it monthly, bi-monthly, every 6-months, a year even? Does anyone really know for sure?

Tom William answers:

Not often enough LOL – they definitely need to do it more often!

John asks…

How does google earth/maps get pictures of so many places on street level?

I like checking out google earth and maps from time to time and find it interesting, but I wonder how do they get so many pictures of so many places on street level etc?

Tom William answers:

They have a car with cameras mounted on top that produce images that when spliced together form 360 degree views of the street or highway they are driving on. They have been doing this for a couple years now. I believe the project is incomplete at this time. I agree it’s very interesting, you can visit many cities and towns in many parts of the country and some outlying areas too. It’s also helpful when planning a trip even just across town, to know where to turn and exit, to see and recognize physical landmarks, etc.

Sharon asks…

What is the best way to a Google Earth animation in a video?

I am making a video and I am wanting to include in it Google Earth showing where I am located. I want it to start with a zoomed out view of Earth and then zooming in on my location. What would be the best way to do this?

Tom William answers:

Using FRAPS or something that records what is on your screen ATM, then manually zoom in to your location while in Google Earth.

Thomas asks…

Why has Google Earth and Maps reverted to much older images than were previously available?

Up until recently, the images used by Google earth and maps were between 12 and 18 months old. However recently I’ve noticed that the maps have aged significantly. For example, my house that was built in 2000 now shows an empty field although the road overlay showing the street is still there.

Tom William answers:

Google has to use satelite photos from outside sources. If Google’s license to use that image ran out, they may have to use older images they have on file. Also, GE uses higher resolution images over more recent images. If one area has high res, they will use it, regardless of the date. You’re not alone, however, many people (including me) have old images which don’t show half the things they should.

Jenny asks…

Why on Google Earth does the meridian line not pass through Greenwich observatory?

It is to the east of it. But the meridian should be in the observatory. Is Google earth wrong?

Tom William answers:

Google Earth is right. The modern official line for 0 degrees longitude is not the same as the old one, not since 1983. The separation is about 102.5 meters.

This shift is a legacy of the first satellite navigation system, the Doppler based TRANSIT system developed in the U.S in the early 1960′s. The U.S. Longitude grid was set up in 1927, and later was found to be offset from the Greenwich observatory. The accuracy was very good for 1927 (*), but not for the 1980′s. The International Hydrographic Organization adopted the U.S. Standard in 1983, and the International Civil Aviation Organization adopted it in 1989. Now with GPS being used almost everywhere, the U.S. Standard is the one that Google uses.

(*) Note: the 1927 error was about 1 part in 71,000 for distance, and about 0.35 seconds in time. Pretty good for using the telegraph to synchronize the timing signals across the continent and under the Atlantic.

Your Questions About Acne Cysts Treatment

David asks…

Treating adult cystic acne?

I am 25 years old and have always had a bit of an acne problem but since having my daughter (7 months ago) I have had cystic acne that I cannot clear up. I have seen a dermatologist but nothing is helping. I used to take Minocin as a teen and it worked great but for this it is doing nothing. I am also on birth control used for acne treatment (Diane 35) and 2 creams…Differin and benzoclin. Still…nothing. I don’t seem to get any new acne with it but I have had the same cysts for the last 7 months. I do not want to try Accutane…I will not go there as I have heard the worst of the worst. I’d rather have then acne then take that. If you know of anything else that might help please let me know. Thanks so much.

Tom William answers:

Look, do not use accutane. It wil only cause you trouble. Antibiotics also do not work on cystic acne and can only make the case even worse. Throw those away and follow this:
* use homeopathy medecine antimonium crudum 30c ; 2 doses daily.
*mix baking soda with water and apply the paste 4 times daily over the cyst. It wil help in opening the pores and reducing the swelling. I guarantee you.
* if you hv acne vulgaris too then also use thuja 30c ; 2 doses daily.
* do not use makeup
* wash ur face with dove soap 2 times a day.
Its my personal experience and this is how i cured my cystic acne within 2 months. I rejected to use accutane when my doc declared that it was the only option. Homeopathy did wonders on me.
HAVE PATIENCE AND DO NOT LOSE HOPE
note- you can email me at shazi248@ymail.com if you hv any ques regarding this.

Carol asks…

Acne is making me severely depressed.?

So I have had acne since forever and a day.
I am 16.
I have extremely dry skin after I wash my face, but as the day wares on my face is oily and shiny.
I wash my face twice a day.
My acne is just the regular stuff but I also get cysts and nodules occasionally. It is all over my face, my back, arms, and chest.
I have been prescribed so many antibiotics (tetracycline, Minocycline, Retin-A, clindamycin, and so much more.)
I can’t go on Accutane or any other Isotretinoin b/c of the mental health side affects (genetics suck).
I am feeling so depressed and am losing friends literally by at least one or two a month.
I havn’t looked anyone besides about 5 people directly into the eyes.
I have extreme problems with meeting new people b/c i am afraid they will be extremely critical of my acne.
I look at myself in the mirror and cry.

I am looking for natural acne treatments, or some type of acne treatment that doesnt include Isotretinoin (Accutane).
Someone please help me.
I was taking taking 600 mg a day of minocycline.
Applying the Clindamycin twice a day.
Applying the Tetracyline one a day.

All 3 of those at the same time. Acne did not get better or worse.
I’ve been to 2 different Dermatologists. A Kaiser dermatologist and a general dermatologist. Both were at least in their late 50′s.

How can I find a younger dermatologist?

Tom William answers:

I’ve got to tell you, you are breaking my heart. I am in my 50′s and that is how it was for me, too. I am slowly getting treatments for my scars after all these years. There is so much more on the market now, have you gone to more than one dermatologist? I’d get a 2nd opinion at a young Dr. Who is up on the newest stuff. I’d take your pain away if I could. Best wishes.

William asks…

hey.. jamie k?? if u check this question again can u tell me wut a “vick” is… u said that in ur answer but wut is it?

Tom William answers:

Hum..sounds like vulgar acne. What u can do is take a piece of cotton with some isoprophilic alcohol and smoothly rub it in the area until it vanishes a bit.
Then mix some oatmeal, water and honey and spread it all over your face.Let it work for 10 minutes and then remove it with tons of water and soap. After that put on some vick and dont take it off.

Theres a good antibiotic thats not so expensive, it was the one that solved my acne problem..is called Eritromicin, it can be found at any drug store.

Well, good luck, hope you look perfect tomorrow.

Nancy asks…

I have cyst acne, taking medications.?

My dermatologist says I have cyst acne and it will scar me if I don’t do anything about it, I wanted to take accutane but my parents said too many risks were involved.

Right now I’m on a Benzoyl peroxide face wash, Adoxa pills, and a gel called Duac.

How long will it take for me to see real results?
and is this an effective treatment?

Tom William answers:

It depends but you should see results in the most in 2 months.
Seriously cystic acne is a severe so the best is accutane. You should consider going on it because it is the only one that is the most effective and possibly eliminate acne forever. I just finished a course and my skin has never felt better. All I had was dry lips and skin as well as some fatigue.

Chris asks…

Acne seriously effecting my life? Does lymecycline really work?

Firstly i realise there alot more people worst off in the world than me. But i can’t go on like this. I’m 26, and have suffered with acne for most of my adult life. As a result i’ve lot’s of scarring all over my body, and feel very depressed by it all. I’ve never had the confidence in my body, to get close too anyone. Hence i have been single all my life, which does sadden me. I wish i had someone i could confide in about my acne. But it seem’s one of them condition’s people are pretty dismissive off, even some of the doctor’s i’ve seen.

I’ve been on Lymecycline for roughly 5 week’s now, and if anything my acne seem’s too have got worst. From having prodominately whiteheads, and blackheads. I am now suffering with more cyst like acne, that is causing further scarring. Is this normal? I have a 3 month course, should i continue too take them, and hope my condition improves? The optimistic side of me, was thinking prehap’s it was a sign of the antibiotic pushing the bad stuff/bacteria out of my body, and in time the acne will eventually clear up?

I have also been considering going down the expensive route, of private treatment for my acne. I’ve been for numerous consultation’s, each offering various treatments. From the Pixel laser, too Microdermbrasion, and Chemical Peels. The problem i have is deciding which one is best for me skin, and isn’t going bankrupt me?
I have a dream too do more travelling later this year, but while my skin is like it is i doubt i’ll have the confidence too pursue that dream.

Tom William answers:

,the chemicals you use don’t help they could be one of the causes,i used to have cystic pimples until i changed my diet,so this probably might help you——– a lot of food ingredients(NOT fresh meat, veg, fish, cheese, potato’s,etc) are man made from chemicals, now if i gave you a teaspoon of chemical to drink, you probably wouldn’t be surprised with the new cystic pimple growing the next day, how do i know? I lived this nightmare of cystic pimples,as one was dying, ping i could feel the next one coming, running home from school or getting up in the morning to look in the mirror(juli, stop looking in the mirror they won’t go any quicker),making excuses not to go out and staying in to apply mud from mexico, slime from the bottom of the sea, face masks made from kangaroo poo,it looks a little bit better(who are you kidding)why do i only see one person in every million like me,because they aren’t allergic to anything,oh no i got another one, this will be my last one,it’s the end of my teenage years, this will be my last one i’m thirty and a half next week. I had 10 years of them, left mums house, bingo month later clear fresh complexion,if i went back to mums big spot again, mum said you’re allergic to something,6 months later we found that it was a food (chemical)ingredient added as a food flavouring, sauces, gravy, flavours put on breadcrumbs, drinks, curries, lots of things. No more bending over when a fit boy passes so my hair falls over my face.it should be easy to find out what your eating that your allergic to

James asks…

What kind of skin disease is this?

There is a lady at work that has pearl-sized bumps, just beneath her skin, over every visible part of skin. They do not look like acne or cysts, just bumps. It’s so bad on her face that it makes her almost appear disfigured. When I see her, I always wonder what the heck it is, and if there’s any kind of treatment available?? Does anyone know?
It’s over her entire body that I can see. No, I will not talk to her about it. If I wanted to do that, I wouldn’t be out here on Yahoo asking. No, I don’t look at her funny, thanks for your assumptions. Welcoming ADULT answers, please.
Devitsdev: I looked that up on google, and the picture I saw is EXACTLY what her skin looks like. This disease is kind of serious and goes beyond the skin. Thanks for your answer.

Tom William answers:

Sounds like neurofibromatosis. Not contagious… Its a type of tumour and treatment is just cosmetic removal through surgery. But it reoccurs. I am sure she has seen a doctor about it and knows it.

Donald asks…

Just wondering if any women have the same problem. Only serious answers please?

I had lumps in my breast at around 25yrs old that the doctors said were some sort of cysts that didn’t need anything done with them. I have since over the years developed hard dark lumps on the outside of my breast that don’t seem to be going anywhere. Also I seem to have been at the start of acne all over again at 25 as well. Bassically five years of treatment, acne scars and breast pain ,the doctors have yet to come up a resolution to or diagnosis for the problem. I wish I had a clue of what I am truely dealing with, if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thank you
I have recieved tons of different treatments for this still now 30 yr old cystic acne and I have also seen many different doctors over the years for the problems with my breast.

Tom William answers:

Time for you to see a dermatologist. Skin staph infections are getting more common and can last for years without proper treatment. They can leave scars or brownish discoloration.

George asks…

Compound W for an acne cyst- good or HORRIBLE idea?

It’s quite apparent that I’m developping a cyst on the side of my nose. I know that salicylic acid is often used to treat them.
I have a ProActiv ‘spot treatment‘ that I’ve been using that’s 5% salicylic acid,
In my medicine cabinet I also have liquid Compound W, which is 30% salicylic acid.
Will the salicylic acid damage my skin? Or just help get rid of the cyst. Could I use maybe just a little?
Is this a really bad idea all together?
Help please!

Tom William answers:

Yes, salicylic acid helps “cure” acne. Howver, salicyclic acid is in such a high concentration for wart treatments because wart is essentially dead skin. That concentration is way too high for acne which is actually inflamed and congested but not dead skin.It would be too drying and would cause your skin to counter it by increasing sebum production.

Increased sebum production= more oils=breakout

Mandy asks…

Am I right to be a little scared of starting Accutane? Also… question about Yaz and acne/mood changes?

I have an appointment with my doctor on Tuesday to start get a prescription for Accutane.

Today, I had an appointment to change from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo to Yaz, because Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo made my acne worse and made me emotional and anxious. How common is it for Yaz to clear up acne (particular the cyst-like blemishes… the painful kind that are “under” the skin)? And, how common is it for Yaz to make you emotional? I’m really hoping that it’ll be a good pill for me, and I know everyone is different, but I’m just wondering.

Also, what can I expect if I start Accutane? I’ve been reading horrible things about it – hair loss, dry skin, lips, etc… bad sunburns… liver problems… brain swelling?! Is it worth it? Because I’ve heard that a lot of people have their acne return just six months after the treatment.

I’m just so very tired of having bad skin. It’s not pretty. And I’ve got excellent self-esteem, but the last couple of months, I’ve kind of just felt like hiding, because I can’t get rid of these zits.

Is there an alternative to Accutane that works?

My doctor prescribed me Differin today, so I’m going to be using that, as well… but… I don’t know. I’m kind of debating whether I should cancel the appointment and wait to see if Yaz and Differin make a big enough difference. But part of me just wants to start some kind of major treatment immediately so I can get rid of it as soon as possible, you know?

Any advice would really, really be appreciated… if you can answer either the question about Yaz or about Accutane, I’ll love you forever.

Oooh and one more question. My doctor told me that on Accutane, two forms of birth control are a MUST. So sue me, I don’t enjoy condoms… sorry. Don’t lecture me about STD’s, because I’m in a very committed relationship and neither of us have any… so… are condoms just something that’ll have to be worn if I start this treatment, or is there another option?

Tom William answers:

Yaz has very low doses of hormones so it usually doesn’t cause mood changes. It’s even recommended for people who have bad PMS. I would recommend trying it. As for the accutane, I would recommend exhausting all other resources before trying it. It is a hard-core drug. Make sure you discuss all other options first, if you haven’t already I’d recommend seeing a dermatologist. The reason for 2 forms of birth control is that the medication can cause serious birth defects. You’ll have to take a pregnancy test at your Dr’s office every month and enroll in the ipledge program before you can get refills. The FDA has a fairly comprehensive list of side effects you can find here:

Why Do You Need CPR Certification?

CPR Training Los Angeles CPR is short for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It is suggested for each person to accumulate CPR certification because it will perpetually function an asset. CPR most often finishes up being applied on members of the family and friends. This is as a result of it’s applied in situations of emergency, whereby, it’s possibly that family and friends are the people who would be in near proximity to the victim. It comes in handy in cases of heart disease, which causes a shortage of oxygen and blood to the guts, brain and lungs. CPR certification is best when among with basic First Aid.

CPR Certification Los Angeles It restores the flow of oxygenated blood to the center and brain, only partially. It conjointly delays the death of tissue and offers space for the achievement of a successful resuscitation without the risk of causing everlasting damage to the brain. Many individuals finish up succumbing to heart disease, particularly on their means to the hospital. This is often especially because, in the absence of CPR, death can occur at intervals 6 minutes. So, CPR raises the possibilities of achieving resuscitation. This will be thanks to a disruption in the electrical pattern of the heart; ventricular fibrillation or pulse less ventricular tachycardia. It will be treated by defillbration, that involves use of electric shock on the chest. Thus CPR delays the time till a defibrillator is on the market, most usually, this can be upon arrival at the hospital.

This uncertainty within the validity of certification has led to many employers accepting solely those from 3 major organisations: The National Safety Council, Yank Red Cross, and therefore the Yankee Heart Association. Nancy asks…

What’s the best pimple removal remedy?

I don’t have bad acne but I’ve been under a lot of stress lately and broke out a little with a few pimples here and there. I’m pretty low on cash so I’m looking for the best at home remedy to clear up my face.

Tom William answers:

Toothpaste. Silly, but it works. Also, wash your face a lot. Don’t touch your face too much, because our hands are what bring bacteria to our face. Also, when you wash your face, first put hot water, to open the pores and let the wash in, then wash off with cold water to close off the pores to block bacteria from coming back in.

Also, DRINK LOTS OF WATER. It’s the best thing to do. And sometimes the foods we eat cause acne. If you eat a lot of fatty foods and greesy, oily food, it causes us to break out.

Helen asks…

How can I help clear up my face?

Ok, I’m 14 years old, and I know that there have probably been a MILLION questions on Yahoo! Answers about acne and pimples but I wanted to know what I need to do to clear my face of acne. I know that I don’t have a bad condition of acne, only around my nose and occasionally forehead, but every time it starts to clear up, I get more acne! I wash my face twice a day with a mild bar of soap, occasionally use rubbing alcohol to dry up the oily area around my skin, eat healthy, and drink lots of water. My skin is kind of oily, but not very oily. How can I stop acne from happening? My mom said she would buy me whatever products I wanted, but do they work? Has anyone tried Proactiv, and does it work? What about KlearAction? Also, does the Clean and Clear Invisible Blemish treatment work? What are some home remedies? If you know anything about skincare or acne removal, PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks!
Also, my skin is somewhat sensitive.

Tom William answers:

I’m 16, and I’m in the same position you are in.
I go to the dermatologist, but nothing he’s given me has helped much.
Before you try ANYTHING ELSE, let me give you some advice on what to do next.
1. Wash your hands regularly, and keep your hands off your face. (Don’t lean on your palm while listening to boring history lectures, haha)
2. DON’T use rubbing alcohol, astringent, toner, of ANY TYPE with alcohol in it. Alcohol strips your skin of its good stuff and leaves it red and irritated. This should impove your redness.
3. Use a oil free gentle soap, like Dove, and wash no more than 3 times a day. (morning, after school, at night)
4. Use as little makeup as possible, and use oil free stuff, like Physicians Formula (I LOVE the new mineral makeup stuff) or Neutrogena. Apply the stuff with dobber things and makeup brushes instead of rubbing it in with your finger.
5. Take all your acne products, and put them on the shelf. Your skin needs time to re-balance itself to its natural pH and air out for about 2 weeks. If it gets bad:
6. Are your zits big and cystic? Introduce your skin to an over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide cream (something Neutrogena I’d reccommend) with a low concentration, a high concentration can dry out your skin. Apply a thin film over your face at night, over the affected areas.
7. If your zits are small and not hurting like big zits, try something with salylic (I think thats how its spelled) acid in it. Neutrogena has stuff with that too. Again, use a low concentration of it, and apply it as a thin film over your face at night.
8. DON’T BE TEMPTED INTO THE MEDICATED FACE WASH! Soap is all you need. If you get into the routine of using a million products together, just take a few steps back, and put them all away and keep it simple.

Lastly, if none of it works, go to a dermatologist.
Get a good one too, I think I’m going to switch mine.

Good luck.

Donald asks…

I tried to use wart removal to remove a pimple and it left a birthmark looking mark on my face?

Any idea on what to use to remove it, it’s not a scar but it’s not a birthmark either. I’ve tried scar zone and all it did was make it smoother. It’s still there. It’s as if the wart removal fried my skin alive. I put a band aid on it and soon found a scab there. A week after I was left with a birth looking mark the size of a dime on my right cheek that looks cute to everyone else but I just want it gone.

Tom William answers:

Well, you used wart remover on a zit. I wouldn’t be surprised if it never went away.

It’ll fade in time, but really all you can do is cover it with makeup.

Really stressed out about these pimples! They just wont go!?

I have had several pimples under my nose above my upper lip and as well as on my chin for the past 2 years. I’ve tried steaming everything and cleaning it, drying it out, using face wash and moisturizer, I’ve even used a needle [only on one] to pop it open when it was at a head and to this very day they are still here. I even went to doctors and I used what he prescribed! It worked slightly by reducing the swelling BUT pimples I’ve never had pimples before are forming!! And I am really really REALLY getting tired, depressed, and sad about these pimples since I’ve had them for oh so long..

I’ve done exercise and I drink a lot of water and green tea, and I have read almost everything about pimple removal but to no avail.

Please help me!

[Please don't tell me about proactive and stuff I just wont use the stuff! Thanks]
[I am using, Shiseido CLeaning face foam, the healing garden, and Clean and Clear advanced acne treatment.]

Does nutrogina work well? Like it clear up your face, but once you stop using it your skin goes bad again kind of thing.
Oh btw, I forgot to mention:

Please don’t say:
Go to the dermatologist.. yes I know! But if there is anyway to remove them without going!

:] thanks though

and no stupid answers please!!

Thank you.. [or I'll report you]
Thank you Cheryl!! I shall definitely be adding more fruit into my diet!!

Tom William answers:

I too have suffered the same problem the last 3 years or so. I have finally figured it out. For me, a couple things happened. Eating fast food, and processed food for a good 4 years will do this to you. I suggest you do an internal cleanse. There are many out there, natural too. What happens when your diet consists of man made foods, and foods made with preservatives and chemicals, is that toxins build up on the walls of your intestine inhibiting your ability to digest things like animal proteins. Pay attention specifically to your diet. In my case, I would get huge red pimples under the skin which took days before they even started to get white heads. After months of taking certain things out of my diet, I was amazed to discover that it was milk. Our bodies have a really hard time digesting animal proteins as it is, and with a colon full of toxins it is damn near impossible to process . Try avoiding ALL dairy. Be careful because it takes many forms and is used in the making of many processed foods. You have to read all labels, and most places like subway have a website with an allergy guide outlining which foods contain dairy. Do a colon cleanse. Cleared my face right up after years of problems. Now of course I don’t eat ice cream, pizza, or butter. But I really enjoy my milk substitute Rice Dream original. Great in coffee or cereal, or whatever you want.
Once your intestine is cleaned out, you may be able to slowly start introducing small portions of dairy.

Another important part of keeping your skin clear is a proper regimen. I use advantage clean and clear and it works great. If you stop using it, you will get pimples. This is because your skin needs to have its pores opened and cleaned, and then moisturized on a regular basis, your skin is a very sensitive organ.

Good luck, hope this information was helpful. Try goggling “acne and dairy”
